How was the Empire defeated by the Rebels? The Empire had some 25,000 star destroyers, 10 or so super star destroyers, the Death Star, the Eclipse, like 10 grand admirals and more importantly they had Thrawn. How could they lose?

rebels had han solo and his luck. ;D
-
Rebels had Luke Skywalker, thats how
-
If they would loose there would be no Star Wars saga ;D

Once the Emperor was killed, the Empire just fragmented.
A lot of the Grand Admirals and other senior officers became warlords, carving out their own mini-empires. They spent the time fighting each other, making the job so much easier for the Alliance.
Lots of planets joined the Alliance after Endor, giving them a much needed boost in resources. As more joined, it created a snowball effect, drawing even more support - Especially from the planets/species subjugated by the Empire.
Thrawn was busy in the Unknown Regions, and was no help at all for the first 9yrs after Endor, then his revival of the Empire collapsed with his untimely death.
The superweapons all had flaws that could be exploited, the ships had reduced combat efficiency due to the loss of the Emperor's Battle Meditation.

one correction. Thrawn was in the unknown regions for 5 years after Endor and returned in 9 ABY. but everything else is true and the best explanation of rebel victory.
-
and another reason, after the defeat at endor, the alliance was able to capture a lot of ships. giving them much needed support to battle the remnent later.
-
the empire had 12 grand admirals all where at Endor but not Thrawn a lot where killd when the DS 2 whent boom and ohters ran away. at the end of the GCW only two where left.
-
only 4 imperal grand admirals were at Endor. Nial Declann, Miltin Takel, Osvald Teshik and Afsheen Makati. Declann died when DSII exploded, Teshik was captured by rebels and sentenced to death. Makati and Takel fled and where killed about one year later.

and palpatine fucked up the 1st eclipse, and R2D2 fucked the 2nd one+galaxy gun+byss(which makes R2 even more a badass)
-
in an overall answer guerilla warfare defeated the empire. but at the sametime the empire was not stable without a leader. the second the emperor died, the empire was doomed
-
Simply because the Empire was to busy fighting to keep the various species in the galaxy from killing eachother. They where probably using a fifth of their recourses at best. And Deus Ex Machina.

Actually, R2 was the rebel superweapon, which played a huge part in destroying jalmost all the tools the empire could have used to crush the rebellion ;)
-
The Rebels were more determined.
The Empire was over confident. Including Thrawn. He should have ditched the C'Baoth and the Noghri way before he decided to do so.
-
The reason is simple
The empire had the "resources of the entire galaxy" at its disposal. Unfortunately, those resources would be overjoyed to hop on over to the rebels if given a chance...
-
after endor battle was done that made the empires fear go down because it showed that only like what? 5 ships in space could defeat millions! THE EMPIRE RULED BY FEAR!
-
The biggest problem was the Empire themselves as in Slornie's answer they were their own downfall, it was actually better for them because they are better off in the future.
-
I would agree that it was better for them to lose to the Rebels but also Palpatine also had nearly the whole Empires fleet try not to fight the Rebels so the Death Star could do all the work instead and have fighters and bombers attack the Rebel fighters and bombers.
-
rebels did hit and runs, and gurilla warfare, so after awhile of doing those it kinda worn down the empire i think. cuz once u get someone ticked off they kinda loose there cool and do stupid stuff thats what the empire did.
