Title: Stealing enemy ships/designs
Post by: strike23 on April 20, 2008, 06:36:05 PM
Should it be possible? If so for which factions, and how would it be done?

it would probably be for rebels and it would be similar to advancing your ship designs

That's already how the Rebels gain tech levels

As for stealing ship designs....

Short: Why?

Long: Why would you pay thousands of credits (We wouldn't make it cheap) to get the ability to make a ship that would cost more than one of your own ships that could either stand up to or beat it?

Let's take a look at the options:
Rebels can buy a Dauntless for 20,000 credits from Sullust.
Or.
Rebels can capture Kuat, pay 30,000 for the ISD designs and then pay 25,000 per ISD*, with a limit of four.

Cost summary
Four ISDs come to: 30,000+25,000(4)=130,000
Four Dauntless Cruisers come to: 80,000

I'd go with the Dauntless.

*Note that Rebels have to pay a significantly larger amount for most ships than either the Empire of Empire of the Hand would.

is it hard to do? because if people were rich enough, they might want to.

That doesn't take away from the fact that it is completely pointless and provides a lot of extra work for the mod team

its not worth the extra work for the mod team but it would be sorta cool.

I don't understand......If you mean that he is copying from others opinions; how can you prove it? That comment in itself is so degenerative on your behalf and makes you look like a hate-driven bigot-brained fool. How can you physically prove that he did not make up his own opinion? This seems more of a personal vendetta to me to strike back at Isamu.

As for the idea itself, I digress. I really do not care for the idea, and it does see slightly pointless, but you did bring up a very interesting topic strike23; I rather enjoyed considering it and weighing the options, but realistically, you can't just keep adding stuff that wouldn't make much difference to the mod-team's to-consider list, or perhaps even to-do list if you strive hard enough to force them to obey your whims......

seeing that he went from yes they should be in. to no they shouldn't, and back to yes, and now, back to no. that's enough reason.

and he does it repeatedly in other topics, so it doesnt make him look a fool, it makes you, Anarchist, look like an insulting punk.

Some people are just easily swayed and others just happen to be on the border of one way or another and they step back and forth.

what does that have to do with this topic?

Nothing specifically.

I think, however, that Arbiter summed up the topic rather well in his earlier post:
That doesn't take away from the fact that it is completely pointless and provides a lot of extra work for the mod team
Which would suggest to me that the chances of this being included in the mod are slim to non-existent.

Locked.
