Title: Bombing Runs and/or Bombardments while Defending
Post by: Rahul on March 27, 2018, 10:12:24 PM
This is my first post on the TR forums, so...

Well, first of all, I've been watching 2.2 previews and the new release looks amazing!

Anyway, my question: Is it possible to enable bombing runs and bombardments if you're defending land from a raid (you have a fleet in orbit that can deliver bombing runs/bombardments)? Would it be more reasonable by including friendly fire to make sure it isn't OP?

If it was hardcoded into FoC, then I know it isn't really feasible. Maybe then having it as an ability on a building (ex. call down bombing run for barracks)?

That would be kinda cool. Only issue I see is one of balancing. If the attacker only gets 4 units and a squadron of bombers are in orbit, their days are really numbered. You could just leave one squadron of bombers orbiting every planet.

Maybe if it was implemented only on certain planets or missions?

Oh, and I agree - 2.2 looks awesome!

--Yeah, fighter spam would become so much more OP if it could be everywhere.

--That makes sense. Another way could be the bombing runs coming from Level 3 Shipyards. The mission idea could also make them much more interesting (ex. as Era 5 EotH, protect Hand of Thrawn from Luke+Mara: you could bomb them but risk losing the Hand of Thrawn and losing the mission)
