Title: Ship capture
Post by: Darth Kade on June 06, 2017, 12:44:14 PM
Will there be a way to capture enemy ships? My idea was that after the enemy retreated, you keep any ship that was left behind, not counting fighters, that has a health over 50%. This way the NR can capture ssds and isds, which they did, examples being the Emancipator and the Lusankya.

The issue with that, especially with the implementation of the single-unit retreat is that it would only really benefit the player. Giving up a battle, a player could retreat any ship capable of retreating and then just have any ship that couldn't escape fight to the death, denying their capture. The ai is far less likely to know to do this. The only way a surrender mechanic would work was if it was independent of the player's actions.

I didnt mean as a continuation of the battle. I was thinking that if a ship meets certain conditions, you would keep it. Maybe show up negative on loss screen.

But your idea, leaving ships behind in a retreat to fight but with a possibilty of them surrendering sounds cool
