Title: Advanced Imperial fighters
Post by: Darth Kade on June 06, 2017, 12:41:40 PM
Are the Tie Avenger, Missile boat or Star Wing ever going to be added? They appear to be more common fighters than TIE Defenders, based on the wiki.

It is theoretically possible that Star Wings could show up, but consider it unlikely. Missile boats definitely not. They were pretty much abandoned after the Zaarin threat was over. Avengers likewise were pretty much abandoned once the Defender program was completed.

This was discussed a few months ago: http://thrawnsrevenge.com/forums/index.php?topic=6385.0

Corey was most amenable to the Avenger, but none of them were a high priority.

In general, we'd like to go with more obscure TIEs than the older Republic and CIS stuff we've typically gone with, but yeah, it'd all be pretty low priority.

What about using avengers instead of or along with maldroods arcs?

I think the team planned a unique TIE unit for Maldrood, the Tri-Fighter (Clutch) of the Invids and it will replace the ARC-170.

It would be nice to have a unique TIE for each imperial splinter faction, like the Droid for Dark Empire and the Hunter for Pentestar.

If I add them in, what stats would they have, in whatever units EAW uses, for speed, maneuverability, or shielding, based on actual stats relative to TR?

I agree on the clutch, though it was exclusive to Tavira's Invids

Is there a picture of the clutch?

Except that doesn't QUITE match how they're described.  It should have the windows extended onto the sides.

Quote from: I, Jedi
and side viewports cut into the hull gave the pilot more visibility

Yeah, none of the images I can find show those - I tend to wonder if the modelers just decided they looked bad and took them out, or simply forgot about them.

I think it is a simpler reason. They just take the cockpit of the defender and work on that. I think they are just lazy to make a new one.

Yup, most likely that.
