Title: MC80 Winged Liberty Type Hitpoints
Post by: HobbesHurlbut on April 10, 2017, 09:25:28 AM
Her current HP stats are:
Capital Shield: 3150
Hull: 2520

MC80B:
Capital Shield: 5625
Hull: 6000

ISD Mark I:
Capital Shield: 5000
Hull: 5000

Would an increase of 600 HP to her shield and maybe 240HP to her hull be reasonable? From 3150 to 3750 for shields, from 2520 to 2760 for hull?

Even if you buffed it there wouldn't be any reason to use it. The only reason I can think it is there now is lore reasons. Starting fleets in earlier eras would reflect that the less modern MC80s that were mainstays during the GCW era were still around from then but being phased out.

If you change its weapons to the more canonical (according to http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Star_Wars:_Age_of_Rebellion_Core_Rulebook (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Star_Wars:_Age_of_Rebellion_Core_Rulebook) Dual Heavy Turbolasers and Dual Ion Cannons it becomes quite the damage dealer.

Huh, I'm not familiar with that source.  It must have come out since we last properly reviewed armaments (probably 2.1).  I'll have to look into that!

Well it came out in July of 2014 which I think that was after 2.1 came out, but I'm not sure.

Funny enough, before I checked back on this thread after I started it, I just bought the corebook. If there's anything you want to know, I can PM them to ya. Also the wookiepedia entry already included sources from the book. ([1]) http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/MC80_Liberty_type_Star_Cruiser  the statblock on right.

Yeah, I went looking at that after Bucman mentioned the rule book.  That's quite a significant boost over the armament afforded in previous sources, particularly for something that's supposed to be considerably weaker than an ISD!  Converting those into the TR system would put the MC80 Liberty neatly between the ISD I and ISD II in terms of damage (vs Vindicator and Dreadnaught as now).

Of course if you take the AoR stats as read you're then in the awkward position of having to perform equivalent surgical approximations on the MC80 Home One, MC80B and MC90 (let alone anything else to preserve relative power) - e.g. MC90 could go from just above the ISD I to between the Nebula and Tector.

You're justified to keep the armament of the Liberty less than that of the ISDI simply because the fluff says so. Even if they're in batteries, the firepower has to be less than the ISD I. After all the main trait of the Mon Cal cruisers were that they could take the punishment long enough for their fewer guns to wear down the star destroyer.

Edited: also PMed you the AoR stats of ISD I and Liberty Cruiser.
