Title: My concern of the rebels final episode of season 3
Post by: Illidan Stormrage on March 18, 2017, 02:18:02 PM
I saw the trailer for Zero hour and I'm concerned.
I am concerned with Thrawn being deploy for a ground assault.
this makes it extremely easy to kill him.
I really hope IF he dies that it isn't something fucking depressing but something honorable.

First I did say spoilers, I'm in the US, there's a thing called youtube so yeah. It is a bit silly to say Thrawn would die anyway, Disney/Lucasarts has the best marketing team on the face of the Earth, there is absolutely no way they would release a book about Thrawn if he died in this episode.

the only problem is you put the word spoiler next to what you said

Yeah probably would have been a better idea to use a spoiler tag on there. For those who care about the show.

My mistake then, I'll make sure to do that.

I feel like they built Sato as a character to be killed off, Idk I don't watch the show expect for random youtube clips but I got the vibe that they just created him so they could kill off someone and have emotional impact. Not to say that's bad writing, far from it actually.

probably, but i still don't like it that he's gone. However, killing Konstantine AND Sato simultaneously was a brilliant move. kill 1 annoying-character/villain and 1 hero/good-guy in one move, and the scales remain balanced

That is actually a good question, but easy to answer.
1, the rebels did not know that his cover was blown, in fact they just believe that he cemented it with the "capture of Fulcrum", so Thrawn, who even knew the code-phrase could easily just get someone loyal to him in Kallus' place to feed misinformation to the rebels if everything else fails. Killing him would be a mayor warning sign for the rebels.
2, if destroying the rebels were successful or the rebels find out that his cover was blown, then Thrawn can still make a public example of him executing him live, making a strong message that no matter who you are, no matter what rank you have in the empire, if you betray us WE WILL find out, and  YOU WILL DIE!
Misdirection of the enemy and scare tactics 101.

I think Rebels is much deeper than just a kids show, however its limited by that classification. Its actually pretty well written so the darker stuff can fly over the head of the younger audience but be picked up by the older audience. Its really good to see that Disney is allowing Lucasarts (and Marvel off topic I know just had to shove it in) to do their own thing, though I wouldn't really be bothered if Disney decided to take it upon themselves to write for Star Wars.
