I'm bad at this game I admit it. But how can I beat this GC? As I find myself unable to defend my planets in space or ground. In space amassed forces can't hold off the Imp2s. And on the ground I can't build up enough defenses to actually hold the planet, not even the usual AFR spam.
Playing on Captain.

Well if your playing 2.2 it will be very different but for NR and Zsinj I have 4 tips.
1 Take advantage of NR and Zsinj getting a mix of rebel and Imperial tech.
Build some ISDs with your quaers and nebulons with Zsinj.
2 things like Ion cannons and ground to space weapons on border worlds.
3 keep your heroes alive especially for NR with their heroes giving bonuses.
4 Build more Frigates which may not make sense based on tip 1 but they are really good.

Thing is I just can't seem to make a strong enough defense to hold the attack back. Cause, ya know, SSDs and ISD2s and VSD2s.

Alright for NR I generally take over the warlord planets then go after Zsinj. take kuat to combine your fleets then take misst then the warlord planets then zsinj
And when batting Zsinj warp ships behind him

B Wings are your friends. That and Hapan Battle Dragons.

Managed to do it thanks to Battle Dragons. Rushed together a defense. Since on Captain the attack comes sometime after week 4 or 5. As such as I just took Warlord planets to add up my credits...
Going to be fun trying that when 2.2 comes out.
