I am curious why Thawn's ability to summon katana dreadnoughts only spawns 4 ships. The game description says 20 if I am remembering correctly, and in the books I'm pretty sure the force was something like 150 ships strong. I apologize if this has already been discussed. I could not find any forum topic on it.

Not 100% sure because I have been winning before I've gotten to use it multiple times (plus it's rarely high on my research priority list), but it may be that it spawns 4 each time until a maximum of 20 are made. I'll have to play around with it next IR playthrough.

How does the ability interact with fleet pop caps? Might that be another factor in play.

It wouldn't make sense that it would spawn 4 every time until 20 are reached because the cool down time is something astronomical like 6000 seconds.
Also, I've made a point to have more that adequate population space for 20, but it did not seem to matter.

Might be the countdown is supposed to be 600 rather than 6000 - ten minute cooldown for spawning 4 dreadnaughts seems about right to me. As for the research tooltip, it's probably just an older description that hasn't been updated along with the ability's changes over the versions.

Budget cuts man, Dreadnoughts aren't cheap...

It was changed without updating the toolti. Next version it will be removed because the Katana Fleet will be represented a different way.

Nice. While it's a cool ability (and I think flagships should have some sort pf special abilities), it is sort of an awkward way to throw the Katana Fleet in there.
