Title: Preferred Game Settings

So I'm working through my second Ascendancy game, and for both of them I've just been using the default normal for everything (research speed, culture spread, the lot). I am interested in changing these up for my next games, but wanted to know if anyone had settings that they prefer when it comes to this.

Fast everything except ships, which I set to the fastest that it will go.

On the 184-planet map, setting fleet size to large is really a must.  I know because I played through about 6 hours of the match before fights got really tedious when my fleet became very spread thin.
