I saw a post for favorites, so we might as well look at the other end of the spectrum. My least favorite ship is the Sacheen. It can't kill anything and I prefer ships that spawn bombers personally.
-
For looks, the Majestic Cruiser. Ugh, just UGLY.
For functionality, it's hard to say, as there are several. Lucrehulk is a big one, as it's huge, takes a lot of population space in combat, and brings all of nothing to the table. Doesn't have particularly good fighters, nor particularlly huge numbers of it's average fighters. 2 Venators brings more fighters of the same quality, better combat capability, much better pathfinding, all for about the same cost in population and credits.
MTC is another one. Spawns nothing but useless Tie/Droids, has no combat capability to speak of, and has almost no shielding, yet is the same population cost as much more useful ships.
While I don't think the Sacheen is useless, it's population cost does make it useful for fleets that will be going against the PA, and so would take it over the Lucrehulk or MTC when comparing cost/population cost vs. actual usefulness.

Every mon cal design ever. Flying poo in space...

Hmm. I'd say my picks for each faction would have to be:
NR: toss-up between the MC-80 Liberty, the Marauder, and the Sacheen. Probably my vote goes to the Marauder.
IR: I have never built a Dreadnought cruiser. I'll gladly trade the extra turbolasers for Ion Cannons and extra fighter squadron of a Strike or the sturdier frame and bomber squadron of a Vindicator.
EotH: not sure as I haven't really played with them enough, but thus far I haven't used a Decimator. Unless their point-defense is as good as it was in the vanilla FoC I really can't see myself using it.
PA: sad to say my vote goes to the Enforcer, despite the fact I really like the ship. I can't justify 2 points for a ship with no hangar and whose primary appeal is some anti-Starfighter weaponry when I can get the amazing (though ugly) IPV and shred fighters much faster.

The MC80 wingless...looks just like something in a toilet bowl...if you catch my drift.

Sacheen easily, and marauder.

Definitely a unit I'm glad was cut from current versions.

Star Destroyers and Tie craft
Now you are a brave one saying that in this forum.

Star Destroyers and Tie craft
Hehehe. It is true that ISD 1s are useless (except you tend to get lots for free at the start of most campaigns as the IR), and that most TIE designs are pretty bad combat-wise (Interceptors and Scimitars are good, Bombers are only good if you have a ton of them, which the IR seldom fields).

Corona and Sacheens since the AI seems in love with 'em.

The Sacheen does suck, but the Corona is actually a fantastic light carrier.

but the Corona is actually a fantastic light carrier.
Particularly with it's "ability" to dodge incoming torps and missiles.

Star Destroyers and Tie craft
I agree that tie fighters and many other tie designs are terrible.

I agree with this whole heartedly.

The Corona's death animation makes me think it's actually a balloon.

Coronas are better than Quasars when it comes to carriers in my opinion. They take the light screening ability of the Nebulon, mash that together with a decent hangar, and voila. There's a reason my early game FTGU as the NR only uses BACs and these.
-
Yep. All the NR needs to build in space, until it gets a level 3 shipyard, is BACs and Coronas. A couple of Corellian gunships for scouting purposes never hurt, but the Coronas can handle anti-fighter work just fine.

Aside from having screwed up firing arcs with half the guns pointing inwards and backwards
