Hello everyone. Here and there I already mentioned some news and/or details about a project a few of us started working on not too long ago. About how much will actually come trough is not yet sure, but I think you guys might want to know more about whats going on here, so I created you this thread.
The people working on the submod:
Lord Xizer: The heart and soul of the team who always has an idea to share, not to mention the voice actor behind a lot of ICW units and heroes.
Vulcanus: The briliant mind behind the Balance and Flavor submod who gives us his experience in modding.
Delta: The only one here(by my best knowledge) who knows anything about models or skins and agreed to help us out with his talents.
Revanchist: just bellow :)
Me: well... I just do my thing and try to put things together and doing some spreadsheets and tables to make things more "easy-to-read".
The submod itself:
First of all, we want to come out with this after ICW 2.2 is well out, so that we can opt it into that version.
It is going to be a 100% rework of the ground infantry by pulling it to (at the moment) 7 categories. We want to make every single unit special in it's own accord and try to bring some variety into infantry. We want to destroy the rule that bigger is better by creating these units.
For example, at the moment the only thing that can do anything against an AT-AT are the V-wings, but we want to introduce Anti-heavy vehicle infantry which would with a little support basicly take out an AT-AT without trouble, but would be murdered to the dozens by the mobility of light vehicles and other infantry.
We were also considering spawning infantry as support units for troop transports like fighters spawn from carriers in space, so unload still wouldn't take a year, yet not having unlimited support units like in the case of AT-ATs at the moment with the drop stormtroopers ability.
If we manage to implement it into the game or not is still a question though...
This last thing is something for you guys, so you see what we have planned at the moment.

Please note that this is still a work in progress and anything can change there, and also the currently present information is half baked, most is not yet done.

Very cool. If I can ever fight off Windows 10 long enough to let me actually install and run 3ds Max I'd love to try to help in any way I can (I just don't know how good I'd be lol).
-
any help is welcomed and thank you for your offer.
I add you to the staff now :D
-
I am as ever, always happy to help and be a part of this continuing magic. It's a great honor to be included.

Wow, finally something for ground battles!! Cannot wait to see this in action!

The first news about the submod:
Delta finished the first new Infantry unit: The Eriadu Authority's Army Troopers with multiple skins.
I let you take a good look at each one, providing some info too.
1st is the generic look which will be used on Temperatate, Urban, Volcanic and Desert worlds, the normal Army Trooper:

The second is the one which will encountered on arctic planets, an armored version, having extra heating in the chest and shoulderplates.

Of course, on a forest planet being tan is not the best idea, so as camo they use an olive color to blend in a bit better

And on swamps, you will see the armored version of this olive skin.

And of course, no squad can be complete without an officer to lead them in the battle. The Tan skin will come on the Temperatate, Arctic, Urban, Volcanic and Desert worlds, while the olive version will come in Forest and Swamp worlds.

I hope you like them. I sure do. Good job, Delta.

So kucsidave, any ideas for the Eriadu Elites?
-
Hey will this be compatible with the other sub mod that reconstructs the Pentastar Alignment ( I forget what it's called, but adds the Tartan patrol cruiser and makes only certain planets able to construct certain ships, etc. )
-
You're thinking of Vulcanus's Balance and Flavor submod which, for the record, changes more than just the PA (though it gets a lot of focus).

Yeah, we plan it to be compatible. Vulcanus himself in the team is a clear sign too ;)

Another question, with the Eriadu Authority and their Army Trooper infantry, will they still have Stormtroopers, like how the Pentastar Alignment troops have a squad of Stormtroopers with their Navy troopers?

At the moment they should. There will be elite army troopers that do not include stormtrooper squads though too
-
yes. Stormies are too iconic for every warlord that they used them, even if they did not have any. Meaning they took poorly trained men and shoved them into stormtrooper armor. See Terradoc for example. That's why we plan the Maldrood's stormies to be different by having 12 men in a squad with 5 squads dropping for the same price, but being ultimately weaker by dealing less damage and having less health to represent their lack of training and stamina.
Though Xizer was wrong about the Elite infantry status. at the moment they will be an alternate for the basic infantry(having 2 at the moment), which would consist from fewer troopers, but would pack more punch. basically sacrificing some HP to DMG, with 1 punchcard in every platoon.
Like the NR counterparts, we plan the Army Troopers to have 1 officer and 6 troopers in a platoon (7 instead of 9 stormies), with the officer having better hp stats than the rest(though not OP) so even after everyone else in the platoon died, the officer can still hold up the enemy from crushing an another platoon too.

Will this gift from warlord heaven be zip friendly :3
-
it will only be zip friendly since I use dropbox and don't know how to make an installer at the moment

But with 7zip or WinRar you can install easily
-
sssssssssshhhh xizer let it be zip friendly

Kus you got a problem . I see the name terror trooper on this list...that wouldnt make sense. If it's the force unleashed terror trooper. They were experimental unit s part of the terror project along with biodroids and terror walkers

Very nice :)
