Title: Assault Frigates Cloning themselves?

I've been playing the mod for a few days now, and it would appear that in some instances, the Assault Frigate creates a clone of itself that spawns with some de-buffs but nothing that prevents it from fighting (particularly so when it's low on health). Is this normal? (For the record i've only played at the IR faction)

Yes, that's one of the special abilities of the Assault Frigate.  The clone is short-lived, however.

Is that sort of a take on the Fallanassi power of illusion (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Fallanassi_Powers) as seen during the Black Fleet Crisis (and later by Luke on other occasions)?
