Hey, I'm really enjoying this mod as always, but I'm increasingly running into lag on larger, longer games. I realize this is inevitable, but I was wondering if anyone has any tips on the best ways to avoid it. Any particular graphics settings? Is it better to reduce fleet sizes or reduce player count? Stuff like that.
I'm also wondering if there is an easy way I could disable trade ship spawning without disabling trade income.

The lag is CPU as opposed to graphics related, so fleet sizes and player count can both help. The more players you have, the smaller you should set the fleets.
As for the latter, you can't disable the game tracking that stuff.

Turn off every icon you can. Lower all graphics settings and choose small maps and fleet sizes. Don't build fighters/bombers and don't play against factions that build a lot of these. You can also reduce the number of tradeships to 1 if you like. Just remember to do it for each race.
In C:\Users\Your Name\Documents\My Games\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire Rebellion\Mods-Rebellion v1.85\Ascendancy-V1F\GameInfo
look up "trade"
find the line maxCargoShipCount 2
change it to 1
Just remember to double the cost of each trade ship as well in its files for each race.
look up "stargalleon"
find the line basePrice
credits 100.000000
change to 200
find the line maxCargoCapacity 125.000000
change to 250
And there you go! I hope this helps.

This actually is rarely an issue, unless it's a flat-out crash because memory is exceeded. Also, Ironclad has determined that the real reason for most lag (like, the vast majority) is because of .ogg compression (the sound files). every time a sound file plays, the game has to decompress it. This is being fixed in 1.87 by the game devs, but modders have been able to try just converting their own sound files and so far from talking to some other mods (SoGE, STAIII) it makes it run incredibly smoothly, even well into lategame in larger maps.

Amazing to hear! I've heard about the .ogg thing from reading SoaGE's updates; very good news that it's gonna be fixed in the main game. I do find lowering graphics and things works for me, I have a crap laptop xD.
