Title: Share how you compose your forces
Post by: Mitthrawnuruodo on January 31, 2016, 06:52:09 PM
Share how you would typically compose your fleets and ground forces with any faction. Here's how my full 40-pop EotH fleets are composed:

1 Syndic - replaced with Phalanx when unlocked
3 Ascendancies
3 Chafs
3 Vigilances
3 Asdronis
1 Massias
2 Warlords
2 Decimators
Remaining population is filled with Karieks (meaning there's a lot more in the earlier eras)

As for ground, I just drop in a Rocket Scout to rush the landing zones then it's all Gilzeans and Airstraekers until I win - maybe a Commando and a Household squad should the situation require, and heroes for some fun if I'm not likely to get them killed.

Hand
6 ascendancies
6 Syndic - replaced with Phalanx when unlocked
4 Chafs
 filled up with Karieks
for ground I would use the tanks and troops and just rush also air when I unlock it

My ideal era 1 NR fleet:
5 MC80bs
5 Dreadnaughts
2 Assault Frigates
2 Nebulon Bs
2 Corellian corvettes

Ideal era 5 NR fleet:
1 Endurance
2 Nebula SDs
2 MC90s
4 Bothan Attack Cruisers
2 Coronas
1 Corellian gunship

On the ground, freerunners, airspeeders/V-wings and a Jedi are all you need.

1 ISDII (clear fog of war)
1 Executor SSD (jumped into center of enemy)
4 VSDIIs (in outrider positions to hurt the fleet scattered by the SSD)
1 Interdictor (behind ISDII to trap enemy)

Ground I prefer dropships, elite infantry and medium tanks. Heavy use of bombers and bombardment. Basically Blitzkrieg in SW.

For my pentastar fleet I prefer a Praetor backed up by Venators. Got to have some beef to soak damage for the Venators.

@Mitthrawnuruodo would you do the same topic for ascendancy?

I don't play Ascendancy so I wouldn't be able to share anything myself.

Why do you play with the Liberty - type rather than MC-80b?

I like them better to be honest. I know the other is more powerful but I do not like the look of the ship I do not like most mon cala ships only two I like are that one and the Republic-class cruiser That is why I picked that one over the other.

For the Empire I use this fleet to attack and defend one attack and the other holding my boards
Out of the three SSD I use two to hold my boards and the four Sovereign you get three hold the line one is in a attack group what is the same as holding the line
one SSD or Sovereign
four ISD mrk II
6 Dreadnaught
6 Victory-class
I know you have a pop limit but I can also call in back up if need so that is why that much.

For Imperial Remnant.
For Defensive fleets i generally use(with some variation)
2 Imperial 2s.
6 Dreadnoughts
8 Strike Cruisers
4 Lancers

For attack fleets i just spam Imperial 2s, strikes, Dreadnoughts, lancers and use what the game sends in.

With the PA, I usually have an attack fleet of 1-2 Praetors, backed up by a few ISD-II's, with massive VSD-II & Venator spam and a few IPV's for anti-fighter.

For defense, I usually have a single Praetor with mostly VSD-II and Enforcers backing it up.

your fleets are all too nice it seems, well organized but none able to handle fighting 3-4 ssds at once (with a solid 250 pop limit) over and over again without breaks. When playing the PA for every defensive planet, I pack 4 or so Praetors into each, with plenty of muunificents and Escort carriers for TIE Hunter / Skipray Blastboat spam and whatever else I can throw in, got star destoryers laying around? Throw them in.

Not very organized but neither are the spam fleets they send me, so better safe than sorry.

For defense against dreadnoughts, I rely on HV guns.  Faster than any fleet.

For IR I would just use Star destroyers mark 2 spam with Dreadnought and Victory mark 2
For the PA use Star destroyers mark 2 Victory mark 2 Venator-class Star Destroyer if in era 2 and on

For that as the NR I would spam these
if in area 4
Endurance-class Fleet Carrier
 Nebula-class Star Destroyer
 MC40a Light Cruiser
 Dreadnaught-class Heavy Cruiser
but if I am in area 1 2 3 i use these
 MC40a Light Cruiser
 Dreadnaught-class Heavy Cruiser
MC80 Liberty-type Star Cruiser and the icon cannon and just spam a lot of these

Late era I would take the Corona over the MC40a.  2 pop, carries three squadrons, with PTS and a hard to hit profile.

And I still think you're silly for using the MC80 over the MC80b. ;)

Oh yeah. The SSDs. But as remnant, this isn't really a problem untill era 5. Which i usually never allow the game to reach by keeping Daala alive.

Though for New Republic I tent to spam MC80Bs wherever i can backed up by Dreadnoughts, Nebulon-B/B2s, CR90/DP20s, and Ion cannons. However for planets without access to a capital Shipyard it tends to end up being 70-80 supply of Nebulon-B/B2s, Dreadnoughts, ion Cannons and whatever spawned there.

As for attacking,  Lots and lots of MC80Bs and Dreadnoughts with some Meat-shield MC80 Liberties in era 1 and 2. Then i gradually replace the MC80s with MC90s and majestics by sending the MC80s to reinforce the defence Fleets in era 3. After era 4 is started. I stop production of everything and only produce Nebula Star Destroyers and Endurance Carriers. Except for reinforcing Defensive fleets after battles with coronas and Dreadnoughts. As all capital yards go to the Nebula/Endurance production.

Until version 2.2 comes out (where I would play as Zsinj's Empire), I usually play as the Pentastar Alignment. Note that I usually play with an increased chance for raid fleets.

Attack strategy: I have an entire fleet to ensure I don't lose, but usually I will send a gunship to initiate the battle and hide in a corner while the raid fleet attacks. if the raid fleet is pathetic and gets destroyed by the defending forces, I will send the rest of my fleet in Bull Formation. A typical fleet of mine consists of

About 4 gunships/corvettes
2 SSD's
4 Frigates
1 Cruiser/Battlecruiser
1 Lucrehulk (late game)

Defense Strategy: I often try to keep a substantial fleet with at least 2 frigates, but preferably including at least one SSD. I count on the incoming raid fleets to disrupt the enemy attack. My fleet is usually in either line or V formation (depending on the map)

6 gunships/corvettes
At least 2 frigates
At least 1 SSD
