Title: Favorite Warlord faction?
Post by: Caon on January 06, 2016, 07:59:24 AM
So, there's a bunch of Warlords out there, ranging from Ennix Devian to Kosh Teradoc to Sander Delvardus. Which of them all is your favorite? If you want, elaborate on your choice, for example, why is it your favorite faction? If you prefer one of the other Warlords, post it in the comments.  ;)

Eriadu, because Delvardus is my personal favorite personality of the warlords, but Maldrood is my favorite fleets (I'm a bic CC Vic fan).

The Empire Reborn to be exact. The reason why is because they have a lot of Dark Jedi (Reborn and Shadowtroopers)

Zsinj is my favorite with PA and EA being close seconds. Zsinj wins out due to personality and quirks(love the dialogue between Melvar and him in the X Wing books), innovative tactics and schemes as well as inventing the Nightcloak, TIE Raptor and his own unique Raptor troopers which were better-and more stylish than Stormtroopers.
Also had one of the better named flagships- Iron Fist

Alignment with the Maldrood as a second.  Kaine's faction managed to survive long enough to become the core of the Remnant's territory, so what he accomplished laid the groundwork for the New Order's survival.  That being said, I have to say that Teradoc and his Crimson Victorys will always hold a place in my heart.

The Crimson Command was pretty cool, fun fact they originally belonged to Zsinj's command, but when Teradoc went rogue they were in his territory and he seized them as the ranking officer in the sector as well as a Grand Moff that supported Zsinj. That'swhat started the blood feud between Teradoc and Zsinj.

I really don't consider the Alignment a warlord faction.  Kaine didn't go off and do everything himself, he set up a viable government with himself as one of the major centerpieces, however it continued to function after he was gone.  None of the regular warlords can say the same.  When Zsinj was defeated, his empire immediately crumbled.  When Daala gassed the other warlords, noone argued that their territories were being annexed back into the IR.  The PA was a splinter, but it wasn't a warlord faction.  After Kaine was murdered by the NR, the PA continued on just fine for quite some years until Pellaeon annexed it, and by that time, it was realistically more like he took over the PA and annexed the IR, since the PA was by then actually more stable than the IR itself due to Daala's stupidity and incompetence at leading anything.

I suppose it's just how you look at it. I view about every Imperial faction that was formed out of the Empire as Warlord, despite their intentions. Although maybe I should just say Imperial splinters next time.  :P

You could argue you that with Delvargus because his death led to coronal giving dala crimson commands and Maldrood conquering the core help Dala kill them and take their territory.

That was an earlyin game mechanic. Crimson Command belonged to Teradoc. Killing him and gaining Pellaeon's loyalty gave Daala the Crimson Command. Col. Cronal gave Daala Delvardus's Night Hammer stealth SSD. It gets confused by some because Daala put Cronus in command of the Crimson Command after she annexed it, with Pellaeon taking over the ISDs gained and Daala taking the Night Hammer to command.

Zsinj just has so much more personality the the other warlords. He also has pirates.

Zsinj does stick out for me since he just felt like a guy with a lot of vision that with his power doesn't feel that far off from getting. That and his sense of being slightly different than most Imperials (really, I thought the whole Raptor thing was pretty neat and felt that was something that only he can do).

And of course, his whole shtick of being quite dangerous despite how one look of him says otherwise. Iron Fist is a rather awesome name for a flagship as well.

...Damn, just about everything bout the guy makes me love him and saves the guy of his initial portrayal in the courtship of princess leia (cause...I just don't like the book...And probably explains how much I despise the Hapans)

Yes Zsinj was truly one of a kind. He was entertaining in every scene he was part of and for being short balding and fat to have accomplished all he did was rather impressive given his origins. He also felt more relatable and realistic than Isard and some of the other Imp Warlords who were very one dimensional

Yeah Zsinj is pretty cool I am going to read the books on Zsinj since I want to play his faction.

Zsinj was probably the most interesting of the Warlords (and I think that is really due to his falling into a book series written by a decent writer). He was the most three-dimensional; he did care for his troops to a greater extent than most of the other Warlords; and he genuinely came across as a guy who, had the circumstances been different, could have been an ally.

He is a pretty interesting character imagine him vs Thrawn.
