Hey, new to the board, having some issues running Thrawns revenge and looking for some help.
I posted about this issue earlier on the Moddb page, but my problem seems to be more complicated so i moved it here.
Heres the details
Running windows 7 64 bit OPS
the EAW i own is the EAW and FOC gold pack available on steam.
I have downloaded and installed the imperial civil war mod to this directory:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Star Wars Empire at War Forces of Corruption\Mods\Imperial_Civil_War
I currently have tried these two launch options.
swfoc MODPATH=Mods\Imperial_Civil_War
MODPATH=Mods\Imperial_Civil_War
Neither have worked, i get the vanilla game.
So what am i doing wrong? I reinstalled the entire game, and re downloaded the mod, installed to correct directory, and i get the same set of issues.
Any help would be appreciated, Played this mod till i finally broke my old EAW disks here recently and then had to upgrade to steam, and steam sucks :P.

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Star Wars Empire at War Forces of Corruption\Mods\Imperial_Civil_War
That doesn't look right for the Steam version of EAW/FoC unless yours is different to mine. Did you create (or get autocreated) that Star Wars Empire at War folder when installing the mod? Is there anything in there apart from the Mods folder (e.g. other files related to the game)?
My Steam install is like this:
D:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Star Wars Empire at War\corruption\Mods\Imperial_Civil_War

Mine is also a Star Wars Empire at War\Corruption\Mods folder.
-
Change the properties for the launcher from program files to program files (x86).

Thank you all for the help!
It works now! there was something all screwed up with my installation folders where the game was being installed. I got every thing deleted and then redownloaded the game and reinstalled and it is working great.
Thank you all again for your help!

Good afternoon all, I have the same install line as you guys, I've changed the launch options, but I still only get vanilla EaW. I may not have changed the launch to program files (x86), but I'm not too certain on how to do that if that's the case.
-
If you've got the mod installed with the correct path and matched in the launch options the only thing I can think of is this: How are you starting the game, via a desktop shortcut or from within the Steam GUI itself? If the former that won't work due to some oddity in the way EAW/FoC is configured in Steam.
-
I launch it through Steam. I followed the instruction PDF to the letter, but it just seems like the game is not noticing the mod. I may be missing something with the game itself, but I'm really stymied.
-
Just in case, you're selecting Forces of Corruption to play rather than EaW when you launch through Steam, right?
-
Also, what's the directory to get to the Imperial Civil War data folder?
ie
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Star Wars Empire at War\corruption\Mods\Imperial_Civil_War\Data
-
Yes, I do select FoC when launching from Steam. And my path is: Program Files (x86) > Steam > steamapps > common > Star Wars Empire at War > corruption > Mods > Imperial_Civil_War > Imperial_Civil_War > Data
-
And my path is: Program Files (x86) > Steam > steamapps > common > Star Wars Empire at War > corruption > Mods > Imperial_Civil_War > Imperial_Civil_War > Data
This is where your problem is (bolded section). Move the Data folder up one level so your tree ends > corruption > Mods > Imperial_Civil_War > Data.
-
That was it. You guys are geniuses. Thanks a lot for all the help.

I have a similar issue, I have looked at the game manual and followed the instructions to a letter. I have look at the ModDB website and have found nothing for my problem. When I launch FOC, it launches it like normal, even though I set the launch options and the path is Steam>steamapps>common>Star Wars Empire At War>Mods>Imperial_Civil_War>Data . Please help, I have no other mods to interfere with it and want to try this new one out badly!
-
You have the mod in the mods folder for the base EaW game, it needs to be in corruption/mods.
-
Thanks, wow I can't believe I missed that!
-
I am having similar problems, I downloded the zip file and unpacked it into my mods folder, but when i launch corruption it is the original game. The program files are C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Star Wars Empire at War\corruption\Mods\Imperial_Civil_War\Data. I've done what the manual said, reownloaded the game and the mod. Any help would be appreciated.
-
You changed the Steam launch options?
-
Yes
-
Can you copy and paste from your launch options into here?
-
I've tried "MODPATH=Mods/Imperial_Civil_War" "sweaw MODPATH=Mods/Imperial_Civil_War" "swfoc MODPATH=Mods/Imperial_Civil_War" with \ instead also.
-
It's just
MODPATH=Mods\Imperial_Civil_War
What's inside your Imperial_Civil_War\Data folder?
-
Art then maps and models
-
And there's no other folders in the data folder? Just the art ones?
-
Yes
-
Then you're missing almost everything, including all the files that actually change the game. Which download are you using?
-
Imperial Civil War 2.1 (Zip)
-
Steam
-
Is there a way to fix this?
-
The first thing I'd say is redownload again.
-
I've tried before but i'll try again.
-
The issue is files missing, which means they were either moved out, it didn't extract fully, or the download didn't finish correctly.
-
Ok, after re-downloading should i try unzipping it with a different program?
-
I Re-downloaded and unpacked to the same result.
-
What is the filesize of the zipped version, and what is the filesize of the folder after unzipping?
-
1.71 GB and 1.34 Gb
-
Then the download is fine but you're somehow not extracting everything. It should be around 5.3 gigs after extracting.
-
Is there a way to fix this?
-
It's potentially a security issue or a disk space issue.
-
Is disk space the same as OS (C:) space?
-
If so that's fine.
-
How would I fix a security issue?
-
Make sure you have proper admin permission to modify files in that folder. This isn't an issue with the mod, it's an issue with what you're doing to extract it or your system, so without seeing what's actually happening I can't really know for sure where you're going wrong.
-
I have the permission is there something i should i try to check next?
-
When you're extracting it, watch and see if it brings up any error messages or exits early.
-
It unpacks normally till the progress bar is halfway done then it finishes and say could not open archive may be damaged.
-
Is there a reason the downloader tells steam users to use the zip version?
-
It has the same files and can still be used, but a lot of people just didn't understand that they needed to change the installation directory.
-
Should I use that? And what do you mean by installation directory?
-
Also, do you know whats going wrong with the unzipping?
-
Also, do you know whats going wrong with the unzipping?
Maybe try again downloading the mod. I downloaded it yesterday and it works like a charm.
One comment though, when Steam prompts to choose the game to run, select Corruption not the Gold Pack. I hope this helps.
-
I used the down loader and it worked great, thanks for your help.
-
Enjoy!
