eisenhower and montgomery i voted eisenhower because of operation market garden

Market Garden isn't a very good example, that was largely a failure

Although Eisenhower is probably best known for his planning of D-Day, which I'm sure no one is going to argue was a failure

he didn't do anything special. everyone else on that list did. and Market Garden was Montys plan, not Eisenhowers. but if you want Patton I put him in. And if you don't know many of those your history knowledge is quite weak.

1) That depends on your definition of "modern".

2) I doubt all the "best" leaders were in the military.
Title: Re: Military commander in WWII
Post by: Meyer on October 16, 2007, 05:32:11 AM
1) modern=1900-present
2) by leaders I ment military commanders but leaders is shorter.

and as with Raptor these are my options where to choose. list contains: 1 finn 4 germans 1 british 2 american 1 japanese and 2 russians

Meh, his submarine force was primarily aimed at the Merchant Navy rather than the Royal Navy.. Although i do admit that he came close to closing the supply lanes.  I was under the impression, however, that his surface fleet was far less successful..

he didn't command the surface fleet, Raeder did. 1943 Hitler fired Raeder and nominated D

that's something I have always wondered. everyone knows german, russian and allied commanders but none knows the leader of finnish armed forces that stopped the red bear invasion. and he was our president even. and voted to be the greatest finn of all time.
