Title: World of Warships open beta
Post by: Pali on August 10, 2015, 03:57:12 AM
Anyone getting into this?  I've been having an absolute blast.  Ships already feel pretty well balanced to me, though of course there's room for improvement, but the feel of the combat is just perfect.

I'm further ahead on the American line with the Phoenix and the Wyoming for the Japanese I got the Kawachi and the Kuma.

I hope they eventually add the French, Italian and German navies too. They had some interesting designs

The Germans were announced at Gamescom and I hope for the British.

Similar progress here.  Have Phoenix, Wyoming and Langley for USA, Minekaze for Japan.  Minekaze is way too much fun... got my first double kill a couple nights ago with it as one torp spread dropped two battleships that couldn't even see me. ;)

I'm not a massive destroyer fan I don't like getting hit and getting critical damage at the same time I did however get the Tenryu the Japanese tier III cruiser that was a lot of fun one of it's earliest kills was a New York battleship at tier V. And I only used the guns no torps.

The upshot to the DD is that it can dance.  Once a CA or BB has taken serious damage, it is almost certainly going to die in its next fight, because it can't evade incoming fire effectively.  A DD, on the other hand... well, I've had matches where I was dropped to about 1% hp early on and still managed to get multiple kills and survive the battle after taking all that pain just because I could stay out of sight and volley torpedoes.  The Minekaze's really the most effective DD in the game at that, as it gets torps with a 10km range but can't be seen until 6km.  Strangely, from what I can tell, the tier 6 and above DDs seem like they're actually less effective torpedo boats (much longer reload times), but they do have better guns, so... *shrugs*

Just a different strokes thing, I think.  I HATE playing a BB, for instance, and the grind to CV was a pain in the ass for me.
