I know the New Republic has the Nebula class, but it and the Endurance look so much alike its a little annoying to anyone?
The Republic Class Star Destroyer was a Rendili Stardrive design for the New Republic that came before the Nebula class. I'm new and not sure how the forums work really, but this is a place to make suggestions right? So what if this was a Republic Cruiser alongside/in place of/or a placeholder an Era before the Nebula class comes in?

The Republic-class is in the mod, it was just never used. If you want to use it, you can search for it in NewRepublicSpaceUnits.XML (?) to activate it, or try my submod, which has the Republic-class as an Era 3-exclusive buildable.
There are several good reasons why it is not used in the mod. It has very similar armament compared to the Nebula-class, and it is truly the king ugly of star destroyers. Then again, since the upcoming 2.2 will have the equally hideous Secutor and Gladiator classes, maybe there is some hope for the Republic ;). Warships aren't supposed to look beautiful anyway.
Interestingly, despite some similarities to the Nebula, the Republic-class fulfills a distinctly different role in the fleet. With twice the number of ground troops carried, consumables for two years and being one of the least expensive star destroyers on the market, I've always viewed it as the NR's attempt to rapidly expand its fleet by directly replacing the Imperial-class. Yet while it is different enough from the Nebula, the problem is that neither ground complements or consumables carried are used in EaW, so all that remains is a cheap, disposable glass cannon star destroyer.

it was just never used
False

False
Was it in 1.3? My mistake, it's been a while. Who can remember that far back in time ;)? Anyway, I wouldn't mind seeing it make a return as the NR could use a hard-hitting assault ship before it gets access to the Nebula.

How do you activate it?
Or where is the sub mod?

Here you can download the Submod!

I don't have the Republic-class XML file available right now, but you would need to edit the tech level to somewhere between 0-4 (means 1-5) and check if it has a line about it being locked and change or remove that.
My submod is here: http://thrawnsrevenge.com/forums/index.php?topic=4920.0
The vanilla Republic-class and mine are a not quite the same, as I used different weapon hardpoints and fighter complement IIRC and it has significantly weaker hull and lower build cost to make it closer to its canon description, whereas the TR team's Republic is a stronger star destroyer similar to ISD I and Nebula, just without any fancy missiles or tractor beams.

Is there a way to make it buildable in skirmish?
OwO

Nvm I see it is, and gosh is that model not like the others. you say you use a lot of old ones, have you seen the one used in the Legacy Era mod? (I thought they were gonna put out new content a while ago but it seems they went dark)

We with few exceptions make our own models, almost no other EaW mod does. I'm assuming the one you're talking about is the Warlords model since almost every other mod is just some compilation of Warlords and now Warb Null models, in which case it's not actually an accurate model. We don't need the RSD in the mod since it's as similar as it is to the NSD, its concept looks uglier, and the 3 tries we've made to stay true to the design haven't turned out well. If we wanted to deviate as much as the Warlords model does, we'd just design our own which essentially just means we're making up an entirely new ship and just using the name, but again, no need to do that when the NSD exists. We considered it for Ascendancy for a while, and may consider it again in the future since we may need a new capital ship for them and it's easier to play around with values in Ascendancy than it is with the system we use for ICW, especially with abilities. The design is just so irredeemably bad.
We were nearly saved from the pain this ship has caused us by the Essential Guide to Warfare, in which the RSD and MC80B were almost retconned as the same ship but unfortunately that didn't happen...

Idk I think its relatively interesting in design personally, maybe because its just not another triangle.

While I agree it's nice that it's a little different, canon pictures make it look like a star destroyer and a mon calamari cruiser mated, had a child, and that child is sick and has boils all over the body.

And then chewed gum at Willy Wonka's chocolate factory.

you start to open up a year old thread too? There is a big red warning sign for threads not written into in 3 months.
And if you want it, you can have it in Vulcanus' balance anf flavor submod.
-
We've also already said we're putting it back in 2.2

It will win battles purely by the ugly factor.

Yeah Sorry about I just like the Ship but I'll be more careful for now on in opening year or years old threads ok.

We're using Jason Fry's almost-canon "the RSD and the MC80B are actually the same ship (http://jasonfry.tumblr.com/post/25364458982/eg-to-warfare-endnotes-pt-12)" thing, right?
-
The RSD isn't THAT ugly. I find it quite unique. I hope that it stays a separate unit from the MC80B.

I do think it's unique, but I'll disagree as I think it's one of the ugliest designs in all of star wars canon. Even the Invincible Dreadnaught is better looking than the RSD.
-
Since it's gonna be in 2.2 is it gonna get a model or a skin upgrade?
-
I doubt it. if they tried 3 times already to make it and failed, I don't think they will try a fourth. then again, I might be wrong, but I personally would just use the best model they have made in 2.2, instead of make a new one
