Title: Spacetroopers
Post by: TheMM on September 18, 2007, 08:46:32 PM
AKA Zero-G Assault Stormtrooper. They do appear in the Thrawn Trilogy comics, so depending on how you view canon on a personal level, are technically canon.

Since it is the Thrawn area they aren't those bulky boxy lookin things, they're the more robotic awesome looking kind.

So, what do you think?

I think they would be great addition to this mod.

Sounds good.  Is there a difference between the Thrawn Trilogy novels and comics?

Other than the comics are comics and the novels are novels, not really. Someone who's read both could probably tell us the truth though.

Spacetrooper article so you all know what I'm talking about: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Spacetrooper

They could be like fighter squardon but they move slower.

Is it possible to hijack a ship during a battle?
if yes they could do that. or if no then they could have bribe special ability.

it would be better to code them in to be like the buzz droids, deployed from shuttles or something and with a much longer loiter time. maybe have them armed with light blasters and concussion missiles?

that sounds great. and that would propably work.

They would be quite a good addition, if they can be implemented well.  Maybe we could get some Mole Miners with a "Deploy Spacetrooper" button :P

I'm not sure if that is possible but maybe it would be. but that idea of making them like buzz droid is great.

i think this would be possible for FOC but would it be possible for space troopers be able to come out of ships and start repairing them

That would get annoying, i hated in Z3r0x's mod those stupid rebel healing ships, they were so incredibly annoying

no it being a special ability

I know, it would still probably get annoying

It is, according to Z3r0x... He told me how once... But you don't keep the ship after the battle, and I doubt a small group people could effectively capture any ship worth capturing.

That could work, but they wouldn't technically be armed with anything.

Not possible. The closest thing to that would be making them a deployed unit that heals ships, but we won't be doing that... If you want a ship healed, you need to do it at your dry dock.

You're forgetting Sluis Van.. only four or five troopers per capital ship.. :P

Those were skeleton crew... most ships were converted to cargo ships with no internal defenses except a few troopers. If they had been fully crewed, they wouldn't have gotten far.

I was just about to say that, most those ships only had a bridge crew and a few other maintenance guys, they weren't technically fighting ships

I know, thats what the :P was for ;)  Shame they werent all Star Galleons really.. come to think of it, Star Galleons arent in the mod are they?

They'll definitely be in R2. I wanted to put em in for the Rebels, but it would be unnecessary, especially since they already have more ships than any other faction.

I thought the Star Galleon was an Imperial ship, with all the internal defenses to stop pirates (or rebels) from capturing them?

Which is why it'll be for the Remnant. And we had it for the Rebellion cause it seemed like the kind of thing they'd use.

but if that spacetooper would be done to act like buzz droids it would great. should we have a vote for this subject?
