Mines has got to be the Eclipse! It has a Super Laser on it! What's not to like. The Sovereign would come a close second though.
-
For me it's the Sovereign. I like the design better than the Eclipse or Eclipse II, and it still has the superlaser and gravity wells so that it really is a full fleet in a single ship. Much weaker than the Executor/Viscount/Vengeance/Eclipse Dreadnoughts in pure combat, but still more than capable of destroying entire fleets of standard capital ships.
-
Executor class variant Night Hammer . Stealth armor, reduced need for crew, increased hangar capacity, flawless evacuation equipment and compartmentalized damage control.

Yes but with this you have a super laser. So technically you are a match for them. But not in head on combat
-
Second vote for Night Hammer, preferably commanded by Delvardus instead of Daala.
-
Yeah, my vote is to the Knight Hammer, with the Sovereign in second and Vengeance in third.
-
Good to be like minded individuals the awesome ness of the night hammer. I think Delvardus might even have been a better commander then Daala I mean he actually founded a decent Kingdom then managed to escape after being beaten with a sizable amount of his forces whereas the Daala normally lose is 99 percent of her forces

Hmmm . . . The guy who lost a Praetor-II to a Nebulon-B and some Y-wings and who could care less for his men, or the Imperial Admiral who kept having ridiculous plot bunnies (I mean seriously, the whole thing with losing the Knight Hammer was ridiculous and contrived and can't even be attributed to a bad commander/crew) thrown her way and actually cared for the people under her command. To be honest, I'd rather go with Daala.
-
Personally I'd rather not go with either giventhe cchoice. ..

I'm going with this answer.
-
If I had to choose to serve under an Imperial leader it'd be in this order,
Grand Admiral Thrawn, Grand Admiral Pellaeon, Grand Moff Kaine, or Warlord Zsinj.
-
I don't like Delvardus, I just think that if you spend several years building a SSD, you should at least be given a chance to blow something up with it (bad memories from building a Viscount in New Republic FTGU campaign).
-
it does seem a bit unfair doesn't it
-
He was dumb enough to show up to the meeting...
Personally, if I were he and I had a completed stealth Executor as my flagship and the support vessels he had, I would have told Daala to, politely, shove off when when she tried to get me to come to the meeting.
-
To be fair the last times they had such unified meetings they did very well, shadow hand being a decent example.
Perhaps he felt that with Daalas popularity with lower ranks and Pellaeons past affiliation with Thrawn there might be something eventful.
Also he knew Teradoc and Harrsk were attending and if by some miracle they joined and others did he might be the first target of said alliance, but when he saw hhow unlikely that alliance seemed when he was at the meeting he decided to leave.

Ya gotta love the Eclipse. After working for it throughout all of FOC and only getting to use it once, it feels good to see it in it's full glory...unless you're on the receiving end

Well, if you're a space whale, it already sucks to be you, so it's a good thing that the Sovereign puts it out of it's misery. :D

Well said

I don't recall ever getting to use it...just a stupid video at the end.
Ruined the whole game for me.

The final mission is stealing the Eclipse at the Kuat Shipyards a couple days after Endor.
You just head in with a boarding party and take it while the Rebels show up to conveniently distract the Empire. Having been only partially completed, the Eclipse lies immobile in the top left corner, but a superlaser lets you destroy anything. The laser breaks or overheats or something and then an SSD shows up. You blow up the incoming SSD like you normally would and the game ends.
I had a save just before this mission started, but I foolishly deleted it. Now if I ever want to do it again I'll have to endure Dathomir and the terrible cutscenes and corruption missions and everything else that made the expansion's campaign bad.

My favorite super star destoyer is Executor Star Destroyer .

It seems a popular choice

Since it's the only one seen in the movies, it's also not surprising.

Mine's the Empire of the Hand's.

Mine's the Empire of the Hand's.
I'll take that as confirmation of them having one for Ascendency. :D
-
I would say the good ol' reliable Executor. No fancy superlasers, just enough raw firepower to wipe out an entire navy. The Sovereign is a close second, it's very... I suppose ominous is the best word. The Eclipse only looks good from the side, from any other angle it just looks a bit off.
-
After all the hype about the Eclipse from everyone in FoC and only being able to partially use it for one level makes it's full functionality in Thrawn's Revenge VERY satisfying.

I will admit when I play any of the GC's that advance in eras as the IR I'm very careful until I have my 3 Executors built, then send Isaard and Thrawn on suicide missions so that I can get The Eclipse, build my Sovereign, and have 3 Executors and lots of Praetors supporting them. At that point I enjoy just SLAUGHTERING the NR mercilessly...

I'm the exact opposite. Just realized the other day that over half of my ICW screen-caps are of SSDs getting SLAUGHTERED by TIE Bombers, B-Wings, Katana-dreadnaughts etc.
The harder they come, the harder they fall.
I just want to make them kiss my wookiee ;).

You would not like me ingame lol, I use my Reaper to scatter cap ships and then jump in tons of IPVs to shred fighters while leaving enough pop cap for Grant. Things look hairy I jump out, Interdictor present, I jump grant in point blank and take out the Grav gen, might lose grant but acceptable for traps.

I would love to answer this challenge in multiplayer. Has anyone done multiplayer battles with this Tunngle thing and a freshly patched ICW?
Firepower and hardpoint-heavy frigates are the bane of SSD + corvette fleets, offering plenty of cheap firepower to decimate the corvettes and start weakening the SSD.
A few light frigates like Corona and Kariek are sufficiently fast and well shielded to knife through SSDs fire to its blind sector and decimate any SSD fighter squadrons while damaging anything within range.
This can be countered with Praetors, but then you won't have enough corvettes on the field to prevent bomber spam.
Of course, the ICW AI would never be smart enough for either my or your tactics ;).

Only difference for me is I will never risk Grant. I'll risk a generic ISD-II, but I love to keep Grant in a fleet in more dangerous areas so that his bonuses help out if I get attacked by an SSD.

Yeah, usually for me I have one fleet containing Jerec as the centerpiece, one with Kaine as the centerpiece, and one as my "Executor Hunting Squad" that is a carrier-heavy fleet with a Praetor and Grant (and some Vic-2s for flanking).

it is never a danger I've found because by the time I bring grant in everything is focused on Reaper and the interdictor is always on the other side of the conflict

My favorite super star destroyer is Eclipse (Emperors Flagship), awesome destroyer .
-
Other then the Executor, the other SSDs are really just novelty. Sovereign/Eclipse is really just a overrated hypervelocity cannon that can be shot and moves. Executor actually *helps* your fleet. Sure, wiping MC90s or other SSDs are nice, but fighters do the same job for less cost.

While not as much offensive power as the Executor, they both still bring a TON of firepower to the fight. Significantly more than hyped up hypervelocity guns.

You have a point.
-
I'll go with the Sovereign.
You can take out any other ship with one shot. You just have to use it wisely ^^

Couldn't have said it any better myself.
-
As someone who hasn't read the supplimentry material and just taking it solely on gameplay merits, I'd say the regular old Executor class. While Eclipse and Sovereign look cool and have the superlasers, you only get one of the former and two of the latter at any one time. Not to mention that compared to the others, the Sovereign seems to have slightly less hardpoints. Space Whales look.... Kinda ugly to me if I may be honest. The Executor meanwhile seems to have it all: very intimidating look, good selection of weapons, good fighter compliment and you can make up to 10 or more. 3 at a time, sure, but still... If it was out and out production, t
-
Gotta go Eclipse. It's got the conventional weaponry to equal the other Star Dreadnaughts, the superlaser, and it just looks freaking cool - like a giant naval battleship converted for space flight.
-
The Sovereign-class Star Dreadnought is my favorite for a number of reasons. The Eclipse is bigger and more powerful, but I like the Sovereign's design better, it costs less, has a axial superlaser, and isn't as big of a target as the Eclipse.
I could have sworn I've seen one in that old game X-Wing Alliance I used to play years ago, but I'm probably just thinking of an Executor-class. I miss playing that game, but it seems I've lost the disk :\'(
-
X-Wing Alliance is on Steam for $10, if you're looking to go through it again. Right now they've got the entire X-Wing game series.

Don't have a credit card or a job to maintain one.
-
You could get a gift card that works as a credit card. Use it just for that purchase if you want - it's not like Steam requires a card attached to your account permanently or has charges for having one.
-
Executor why because she was great when you first saw her on screen in the empire strike back. I just enjoy using it not that I not like the other SSD out there but to me this one made more sence plus it was more easy supply then the other that need more crew and more food and fuel well Executor need 280,000 well the Sovereign need 600,000 and the Eclipse need 700,000, so why waste the man power or supply you not have after Endor to build the bigger ships and just stick with the ISD and the Executor. I know I sound like Thrawn but I do not see the reason to have super ships the biggest I would build would be the Executor and she it as a command ship like she was but upgarde her fire power and shield so I can last longer in a fight.
-
I definitely think that the Sovereign is an awesome SSD! I mean it has a laser that one-shots any other warship so....
-
I have to go with the executor class super star destroyer. The nostalgia of being a child in the 90s and my uncle giving me the orginal trilogy on VHS and no one telling me any spoilers. The original trilogy was and forever will be my favorite movies, and the way the executor upped the scale from the imperial class 1 Devastator to the intimidating look of the super star destroyer. I love the other SSDs and I would probably have to go with the Eclipse as my second favorite since Dark Empire brought the amazing fluff for N64 rogue squadron.
-
Executor it is large, slick, and cool http://thrawnsrevenge.com/forums/Smileys/default/cool.gif
-
The Eclipse for me. Yes The Executor has more raw firepower but that's pointless if I can just point my ship at something and have it go away in seconds :P
-
I love all Star Dreadnaughts in the Star Wars Universal. But my Favorite is The Eclipse because it's get Everything you need to Rule over an Empire (But if I can make my own Eclipse class I make it long. By 25,000 meters need less supplies and More Equal Crew for the ship and give it greater Armor, shields, weaponry (like the Heavy Turbolasers,Turbolasers, Ion canons and the Superlaser) and have a large fleet protecting it at all times so yeah The Eclipse all the way.
-
Going to have to go with the iconic Executor class, but specifically the Lusankya I loved what happened to this SSD during the second battle of Borleias. Wedge and company knew they had little chance against the Yuuzhan Vong fleet that was incoming, so they decided to build a large metal spike filled with explosive within the superstructure of the Lusankya. Then they would drive this ill fated SSD into the incoming Yuuzhan Vong worldship, firing all batteries along the way. Wedge would pilot the SSD, and then escape before impact in an x-wing sitting in a Lusankya hanger bay.
I saw it as a beautiful death to an SSD that was in so many books I've read, the real end of an era. I was almost sad, but it was right for the Lusankya, being a ship of terror throughout its whole life, and then dying to save others. :'(
-
I'd have to go Eclipse first, with Executor and Viscount right behind. I feel that the sovereign is weaker that it should be and the vengeance stronger than it should be. I also wouldn't mind buffing eclipse, executor, and viscount up a bit too, but them getting buffed I'd boost the cost up too.
-
My favorite ship is Corey's favorite the unknown SSD in that one brief shot in a Ds game I can't remember
TROLOLOLOLOLOL!!!
But all seriousness the Executor-class is good and I would love to command one
-
Out of the ones currently in the mod I'll have to go with the Vengeance due to it being unique to my favorite faction. I am looking forward to the Bellator though.
-
Mine is the subjugator :D
Being serious, I love the space whale with both cosmetic and strategic reasons.
1. I love Mon-Cal ships in general
2. The rear is more protected than any other SSD
3. Awesome shields
4. There is just something that red turbolasers tickles my fancy
5. Spacewhale
-
The bellator is the best, visually. It is also pretty cheap
-
The Assertor class, I mean, come on, it has nineteen engines!
-
I mean I like the Eclipse, I think it has the best design next to the Executor. However speaking in tactics and strategy, I would take a Bellator, or a similar pocket SSD.
-
Is there a way to build an assertor? Also, where can I find a good picture of an assertor?
-

No you can't. It is not in the mod, and nor is it going to be in 2.2.
And here you go (https://www.google.hu/search?q=assertor-class+star+dreadnought&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjSnYGm_c7SAhWFXhoKHTZ9D7AQ_AUIBigB&biw=1680&bih=916)

Eclipse since it can gravity well and one shot a SSD with its superlaser (My friend killed wedge in one shot with it)

The soveriegn can do that too
