Yeah so I've downloaded Raw before and it worked fine
I downloaded thawns revenge and put it into the same folder as raw but its not working
I have the launch options right and everything
Also something I didn't get was that raw is a application type file but icw shows up as a windows batch file
Is that right?
[note: can someone put this thread into the tech support I didn't see it coming in]

The fact that RaW and ICW use different launcher types doesn't matter for Steam, which I'm assuming you're using since you mentioned launch options. All that matters is that the folders are in the right place. Is it Mods\Imperial_Civil_War\Data...?
-
I have no mod folders for steam
No steam apps folder either
Just a folder marked steam with steam itself, empire at war (because my computer broke and I started using this other computer and sweaw was the only game I downloaded) and the raw stuff and icw stuff
And yes I extracted it with zip
-
The mods folder is necessary, it's meant to be in the forces of corruption folder.
-
I don't have one
I only have a steam folder and that's where I put raw and it works fine
-
If you don't have one, then make one. The game needs to be able to find where the mod is, and that's the standard way to do it as well as what altering the launch options. Anything else would require substantially different launch options. If you follow the instructions in the manual, it will work. If you don't have RaW in the mods folder, you either have substantially different launch options, or you installed it directly into your game's folder (which would break any other mod you try to play as well as the base game)
-
Ok then how do I create a mod folder
Does it matter that its a specific folder or is all that matters it being in a folder
-
It's just a regular folder
-
Ok I made the folder and I put everything there, even re downloaded everything but it still won't work
My biggest question is what am I doing wrong
You said that raw being in the game folder would break other mods, should I try deleting it?
-
Well, when you say won't work what exactly do you mean? Is nothing launching, is it crashing?
-
It's loading vanilla force of corruption
I put in the raw launch options and raw works
I put in icw options and it doesn't
-
Ok this is how I have the files set up
Computer>OS (C:)>Program Files>Lucasarts>SWEAW FOC>Mods>Imperial Civil War
In ICW folder I got the mod data folder, the ICW file and the TRIcon file
Steam launch options are sweaw MODPATH=Mods\Imperial_Civil_War
What am I missing
-
That modpath is for the game being installed in C:/Program Files/Steam/SteamApps/common/Star Wars Empire at War/corruption/Mods if you have a 32-bit install of windows or C:/Program Files (x86)/Steam/SteamApps/common/Star Wars Empire at War/corruption/Mods/ if 64-bit install of Windows.
That install path of ICW is for a retail installation, not a steam installation. If you installed EAW through steam, it should be installed at the location I pointed out.
-
Still not working
Ok etc>Sweaw>corruption>mods>the icw data file, the icw program and the TRIcon file
I've tried putting the icw and TRIcon files in the data file and it still didn't work
-
Let me see if I have time to look it up when I get home. I know Steam is VERY particular about capitalization, so it could be something as simple as something capitalized that shouldn't be or vice versa.
-
Wait, does it go Mods\Data or Mods\Imperial_Civil_War\Data?
-
I'll try that I guess
-
No the data folder has all the stuff in it I just named it ICW data but I put the TRIcon and icw batch file in there
-
OK, for steam on a 64-bit Windows, the path should be "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Star Wars Empire at War\corruption\Mods\Imperial_Civil_War" with the data folder in there.
The launch options should be "swfoc MODPATH=Mods/Imperial_Civil_War"
-
Ok now I'm sure I got it to work because the loading screen doesn't say force of corruption buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut
Now it's frickin crashing
I get a error that says XML parse error - File .\Data\XML\GauIDialogs.xml: file has syntax errors, see log file
-
You possibly have a corrupt download.
-
GREEEEEAT!
How might I fix that
-
God dammit I just tried to load up Raw and I got the same message
-
And now I can't play vanilla corruption WTF
-
Uninstall from steam, delete the folder, reinstall from steam. Install ICW WITHOUT RAW to make sure it works. Then if you want reinstall RAW. Not sure if RAW messes with other mods in Steam versions like it does in retail versions, but it's known to cause major headaches with any other mods due to how it installs.
-
In that case, the problem has nothing to do with the mod, it's a problem with the base game. You broke something in the vanilla game's data folder.
-
I've downloaded both of these mods altogether a total of 11 times due to this clusterfuck and each is about a hour long...
FUU-
-
Only an hour to download ICW? That's pretty good compared to most people given it's size.
