Title: Luke Skywalker's early training...Just Old Ben and Yoda?
Post by: CaptainPogo on January 23, 2014, 01:08:11 PM
You know, I'm now frankly bugged by the knowledge that there are very few Jedi that not only survive Order 66 but some (or frankly, a couple I know of) were part of the Rebel Alliance.

Mostly I'm talking bout both Qu Rahn and Rahm Kota.

...Did those two not give a damn that there is a new guy who destroyed a space station capable of destroying planets without a fricking targeting computer and is probably a strong force sensitive being?

Taking a look at both men, I do know Kota was at least around with the Rebels since day one and may have died at some point (maybe...They really need to establish something now for Kota). As for Rahn...Yeah, I'm not sure what Rahn was doing.

Only way I see it is that Kota was too busy leading reckless daring attacks until Vader had enough of that shit and killed him and Rahn was doing whatever that he didn't notice Luke till after Endor...Somehow. This or Old Ben's ghost one day just gave them the finger for even thinking bout training the  boy and they pretty much ignored the poor kid into trying to learn his powers.

Personal thoughts so far?

My theory, and I admit, it is JUST a theory, is that they saw Mark Hammill's acting ability (or lack thereof), and realized that there were NOWHERE near talented enough to be able to train him to do anything.

Perhaps  can shed some light on this.

Qu Rahn helped set up a refuge on Ruusan and then stayed underground rather than openly help the Rebellion, believing his main duty was to protect the Valley of the Jedi. When he was fleeing Jerec he briefly teamed up with rebels for passage so he would not have been anywhere near Luke.
As for Kota...I find with his personality and flare for suicide missions he died either right before Yavin or shortly after and never met Luke. A few other Jedi were in and around the Rebellion bu all met their ends either right before Luke met them or immediately after.

Also as to Mark Hamill's acting ability, the man was the best Joker I've ever heard and he's done a ton of voice acting that was fantastic(Firelord Ozai, the Hobgoblin, he was in SWAT KATS and dozens of other really great and different roles) so yeah, he was bland but that was one of his first roles and Luke's character is kind of like that. Also he's NOWHERE near as horrible as Hayden Christianson!

Ah, fine points there.

As for Kota, I'll have to see what became of him after Yavin (if Battlefront Elite Squadron is to believed, he was a part of the whole "Destroy Death Star" campaign the rebellion was working on, mainly helping the clone of his former student as a mission control of sorts), most likely killed in action...Probably by a pissed off Vader (who did get punished by Palpatine for the DS destruction if Mara Jade is right) who also might be at his obsessive state to locate and turn Luke and opt to limit his potential of training.

Well...At least Kota would get his wish to fight Vader. XD

Ironically I actually really like Kota, which is rare as the only other Jedi I ever liked were Katarn and Kenobi. Wouldn't mind him going out lightsaber blazing in a last stand.
