Set to premiere in Autumn 2014.
This one takes place during the Galactic Civil War of the original trilogy.

Seems to be an interesting watch hopefully...

I'll have to wait until I can find more information.  Nice artwork though.

I'll give it the benefit of a doubt since it's not clone wars timeline. Who knows maybe other EU characters will make an appearance, Bel Iblis, Thrawn, Xizor, or Pellaeon(again since he was in CW)

My expectations are low, so as to not feel let down if it's terrible. And if it's good then it'll seem even better to me because I thought it would suck =P

I wonder if this replaces the planned live-action TV show Star Wars: Underworld?

It'll be interesting to see how they manage to make a cartoon in the RotR era, seeing how, from what we know of the era in other media, it was mainly small-scale rebellion on individual worlds - rather than the large scale galactic combat seen/depicted in the Clone Wars.  Another question is how it will deal with things like the birth of the Rebellion (e.g. the plot from Force Unleashed) and the known back-stories of existing characters.

That said, I'll probably give it a go when it comes out.

Indeed

I might feel better about this if it wasn't being made by Filoni and the crew from Clone Wars. That show featured some of the worst dialog I've ever heard outside of the prequel trilogy, along with incredibly dumb plots and cringe-worthy attempts at humor.

The fact that Filoni and Co. are creating it leaves me worried. As does the fact that there is a main character, and that he is a Rebel (probably). I'm not going to say one way or another, but it doesn't look to hopeful. They will try too hard with cheesy stories about the good guy rebellion without showing the other side's perspective most likely.

That being said, I will at least watch the first couple of seasons even if I do hate it.

I just hope they don't bring in that awful narrator from CW, mere words do not describe how corny his exposition scenes were.

To be fair, the narrator has done a lot of Star Wars VO roles in both games and shows and does a good job. It's not his fault the script for the CW cartoon was so cheesy

Yeah, even an all star cast can't save lousy writing.

Did any EU characters turn up in the Clone Wars cartoon? (other than Ventress)

Really!? Wow, I never knew that. I think I'll look that up, it might be interesting to see what the good ol' admiral looks like as a demonic CG character.

Honestly, my biggest problem with the guy was his voice. He always sounded like he was advertising some new kind of laundry detergent rather than telling the tale of a bloody galactic war.

Well he has a trademark mustache and is commander of a Venator SD as I recall. It was in the novel No Prisoners though and another minor appearance in a comic. I thought he had appeared in the show but it seems I was mistaken.

As to the Narrator, hey gotta sell it one way or another.

Did everyone see the teaser that was just released?

I saw it*, and actually thought it was quite clever!  Starting off with the opening from ANH, and then did it turn into the Falcon when it flew off?  I just wish it had been longer and showed something of the actual show..

*I had my sound off so I didn't hear what I gather was another incredibly annoying narrator like the one from TCW who somehow avoided being sacked.

I have a feeling the show will use a lot of nostalgia quotes.

Listen to the narrator and ignore his annoying voice. It is quite depressing what it sounds like the focus is going to be.

Oh, hey, look. Another (http://starwars.com/news/nycc-2013-meet-the-inquisitor-the-new-face-of-evil-in-star-wars-rebels.html) fierce-looking bad guy with a double-ended red lightsaber!

On the other hand, this picture (almost) makes everything better!  There's also (http://herocomplex.latimes.com/tv/star-wars-rebels-dave-filoni-reveals-the-inquisitor-talks-up-series-at-nycc/) a short QA with Filoni

(http://latimesherocomplex.files.wordpress.com/2013/10/reb_ia_197_slate.jpg?w=900&h=505) (http://herocomplex.latimes.com/tv/star-wars-rebels-dave-filoni-reveals-the-inquisitor-talks-up-series-at-nycc/)

What are those little ships beneath/in front of the Star Destroyer?

I hope that this new villain will be able to actually do something "villainy" and not just fail at everything through some stroke of luck on the heroes part. And while I doubt it, it would be good if they could lose some of the childishness of Clone Wars. But great pics!

Nah, clowns are genuinely terrifying. The Picture looks nice, but why are they ISD 2s in the picture?

Maybe the villain in the new show realized that the ISD-II is superior and uses them instead of ISD-I's...  :)

But ISD IIs weren't introduced until after Yavin, right?

They were introduced shortly before Yavin.

Does 5 years count as "shortly before" though? The series is set around 5 BBY.

In the entirety of the Star Wars Universe, I'd say yes since it spans thousands of years.  In the mainline universe, I personally would think no.  But if this show is to be considered canon, then it'll be officially, yes, 5 years is considered "shortly before" since they appear to be using them.

Maybe some good EU villains will make appearances like the other Inquisitors, Jerec, Tremayne etc. and some good EU Imperials and Black Sun.

So, has anyone seen the new character bio videos? They all but confirmed my worst fears about this show, the one about the "spunky" mandalorian girl was profoundly depressing. They aren't really characters so much as cliches, and the most tired ones at that. There's the big strong guy, there's the streetwise kid who plays by his own rules... And yet another Jedi who escapes order 66.

Not another order 66 survivor it's almost as if the clones had the same problem as the stormtroopers (being they can't hit anything).

Yup, looks pretty bad. The only thing that would fix it (IMO) would be to have the Jedi killed, the Twi'lek pilot need some prosthetic limbs, and the Mandalorian girl actually be an Imperial spy by the end of the first season.
