Title: League question
Post by: Settra on June 19, 2013, 06:14:14 PM
Heyo,

I've been getting into League recently and was wondering what people's favorite champions are?

AD Carry: Tristana
Jungle: Vi
Top lane: Wukong
Mid: Evelynn/Fizz
Support: Lulu

Was it you that played with me and Kalo, or was that just Zsinj?

Jarvan IV and Garen have been my go to champs recently. Garen carried me to gold ranking because nobody knows how to deal with in lane bc well nobody plays him.

I watch a lot of the LCS because modding gets boring with nothing in the background to listen to and that was basically pr0lly's strategy on compLexity: pick the most random champs and nobody will know how to deal with them.

I wish I could do that more often but people start crying when I do.

It kinda depends on the pick though. There's a big difference between stuff like Garen top/Annie mid vs stuff like Jungle Ezreal. Sure, VES plays Jungle Ezreal but that only works because you have a mid laner who can funnel farm to you (Janna).

P.S. My tag is Tropicana0J (the 0 in OJ is a zero) for anyone who may want it.

It may have been me, can't say I can remember. Wukong is a giant pain in the ass and unfortunately I haven't been able to play as him. Though when I do play it is a lot of ARAM. But when I do play regular I love jungling with Fiddlesticks and doing everything else with either Nocturne or Katarina.

I got my first pentakill on Wukong. Was playing my first ever ranked game in a Ranked 5's queue with Kalo and some other people we play with, ulted on top of my team's Karthus and pretty much evaporated the enemy team. Felt so good.

My only penta has been with Fiora, just ulted in the team fight when the enemy was weak. Those feels. Sadly I am not of the level to do ranked, but I can't wait to see how I fare.

Jarvan IV and Garen have been my go to champs recently. Garen carried me to gold ranking because nobody knows how to deal with in lane bc well nobody plays him.

Jarvan has been a pain in my ass a few times, locking my squishy characters with his ult feels bad man.

Jarvan is one of those champs that makes you cry for having flash on cooldown or have no escape skills.
But it's a misconception that you ult the carries. That isn't your job. Your ult is to lock down tanks and bruisers so they can't reach yours in teamfights.

That would depend more on the team comp. If you're playing as Jarvan and one of your carries has huge AoE damage, then it's usually best to try to lock down the enemy carries with your ult to keep them on your carry's ult (Vlad/Anivia/Kennen)

Normally yes but a lot of times ranked that every carry picked usually has a built in escape method.
Like #1 ADC Ezreal. He's like in every fking game.
Most of the time the bruisers/tanks will use theirs to try to initiate on your team. Lock them down and let the carries wreck shop is my philosophy.

Funny enough I havn't seen a lot of the AOE comps lately. You'll see like the stray Karthus or Anivia but that's about it.

Jungler : Nautilus, Zac, Xin Zhao.
Top Lane : Pantheon, Vladimir, Shen, Garen.
AD Carry : Draven, Corki, Quinn.
Support : Fuckin Gems and shit, Thresh, Blitzcrank.
Mid Lane :Pantheon, Vladimir, Swain, Twisted Fate.

My first Pentakill was with Twisted Fate and was by accident. It was a lost teamfight and I routinely threw in some Cards and they all lined up. Not with the middle projectile, mind you, as in all 3 of my cards actually hit someone.

My ingame tag is Kaloshin.

Dat Big Nasus

Oh Twisted Fate, never has a champion made me so scared and happy at the same time. Good TFs scare the hell out of me...but bad TFs are just funny to watch.

I may add some people, be prepared for a request from a very....strangely named summoner.

TF is easily one of their better champion designs. Because in essence, he has two abilities, but is one of the harder champions to play. Very easy to fuck up.

Yeah, it and Starcraft are constantly competing for best online game (Starcraft is better).

I'd say they are much too different to even be compared, but oh well.

This is easily the worst thing I've ever seen you post.

:D

I'd probably agree with revanchist.  I at least had a passing interest in Starcraft.  LoL didn't even raise enough interest in me to play beyond the first hour.

It's definitely harder to get into, especially if you're not used to MOBAs. Kalo had to pester me for months to play it, and when I finally did my initial impression was basically "So I'm playing an RTS where I have one unit" because when you start off it seems like there's a lot less input to controlling it or to what you actually do than there really is. I didn't start enjoying it until I'd actually figured out what the fuck I was doing, and now it's easily my favourite game.

LoL is like the easiest of MOBAs to get into.
DoTA is even harder with all that secret shop stuff or w/e and that CC last for days there compared to LoL.

Come to think of it Ironclad is making a MOBA called Sins of a Dark Age.

I'd have to agree, I tried smite and nope. I haven't tried DoTA, but can't say that I am interested. Oh, well hopefully it isn't bad, some of the pictures on their website look pretty cool.

Not sure I agree. You have to learn how to fight against 120 or so champions, get runes, get champs of every role, masteries. I'd say SMITE is the easiest to get into.

Post by: Corey on June 21, 2013, 08:29:01 PM
With the exception of Smite I'd agree it's the easiest to get into (just because with Smite even if you're doing terrible, a third person view is usually more entertaining to people). I know some people who play HoN or DotA who say it's because the game is "easier" but I think it's that it's just more accessible to beginners; skill scales just as much. DotA is much less clear on what's actually happening ingame and seems to treat a high burden of knowledge as high skill cap.

It was inevitable.
Apparently there's also cheering if you get enough stacks.

May I ask why?

Ripping things out of a character to solve a problem that'll most likely get worse with the new change is an awful idea.

Phreak explained why you're wrong. Whenever you've talked about it you made it sound like they're trying to prevent him from snowballing, but they'tre not doing that at all.

Right, but what I'm saying is the problem is probably going to get worse and then the Passive will just get nerfed or changed again.
Title: Re: League question
Post by: Corey on June 22, 2013, 05:08:08 AM
I don't see how removing something that makes him a bigger lane bully in exchange for something that really only pays off later in the game exacerbates the problem of him being a complete lane bully and falling off late game. The amount of gold this adds is basically the same as he'd get from a TF passive, and they've already said they'll change the numbers if they need to, which is less of an option with the bleed.

Yo, I was curious about your all thoughts about the seals/glyphs of magic resist/armor being the flat amount runes or the scaling runes? Anyone have a difference? I figured that the base amount ones are better just in case the game doesn't actually last that long.

Depends on the champion. I guess I technically prefer flat on junglers to make more moves early, but that can change.
