Hello, whenever I try to save the game now, this error message pops up, soon followed by a CTD. Does anyone know how to fix this?
-
Did you checked the avilable space in your disk? XD it might sound stupid but if you have your hard disk divided you migh not notice it
-
Yes, I've got plenty (166gb)
-
First, check your compatability settings for the game and make sure you're running as admin.
-
I've tried running the game as an admin, but it doesn't start up for some reason.
-
Can you try everything in the vanilla game and see if it works?
-
It works in the vanilla game!
Also, whenever I try to overwrite a saved game in TR, when it fails it also permanently deletes that save :(
-
It still sounds like its permission or compatability setting issues writing to the hard drive.
-
Hmm, so I deleted several screenshots and a recording called 'Autosave' and now it works again, weird.

Hello,
i have the same error with one difference. It occurs only if i try to save "Final Imperial Push". I have no problem to save in any other GC except this one.
Does anybody know how to fix this?

Try going to C:\Users\Name\Saved Games\Petroglyph\Empire At War - Forces of Corruption\Recordings and delete anything in there, also remove your most recent screenshots just in case, that's what worked for me.

I never took any screenshots or recordings. Therefore this file is empty.

A recurring issue...
I get the same error message from EaW/FoC while trying to save a game (e.g. "Failed to save game. Check available disk space.")
Both current save file and autosave files being deleted in the process.
After some inquiries on numerous forums, it seems the problem occurs on different mods as well as on the original game.
It also occurs with every operating system (XP, Vista, Win7 tested)
Different solutions have been tried (running the game as administrator, changing properties/compatibility modes SP2, changing user names, different save name each time...) : TO NO AVAIL.
So far, it seems that the crash occurs when the size of the .sav file reaches circa 100 MO.
Is the original game coded in such a way that no saves can be made if greater than 100 MO ?
If not, i.e. if it's "only" a bug, is there a solution to fix that ?
Any thoughts...?

From my experience more likely that it is size save issue.
Although I never hit that annoyance in vanilla EaW/Foc, but with big mods it happens on occasion. I also got that when tested running PR mod from RAMDisk (tried to smooth game play and loading time - primarily resource intensive Operation Shadow Hand).

I find fix of this issue on steam forum.
Dont you have Steam version? Running Steam as administrator solved my problem with saving....

Hello there. You are my last hope obi wa.... TR Mod Team.
I get the same message as op and after it ctd.
Win 10
The game is the GoG Gold version
EAW - runs fine ( gets a bit "laggy" sometimes with big fleets )
FoC - I can save on GC without issue, BUT most Groundbattles i get the same message "Failed to save game. Check available disk space" and CTD after it.
Ive run TR and tried the ~100planets GC . On Autosave and Normal save i get the same error.
I gave EAW and FOC executes ADMIN rights.
I have compability mode on win98/me
Ive googled about this problem and it seems something with the size is wrong (not 100%sure) so i started a smaler GC ~50 and it worked fine. I could go into Spacebattle, autosave fine, normal save fine.
Ive tried like 5 hours to get the game to save on big GC maps. 20 Attempts.
I would really like to play this mod with big GCs, it looks so well made :(
Please, do you have any suggestions what i could try.

The first thing would be making sure you're running Steam with Admin permissions. Sometimes this can happen if the folder you're saving to has restricted permissions.

Hello Corey.
Thanks for reply.

I'm gonna try this. Thank you!
