Title: Did Thrawn die in Bilbringi?
Post by: Meyer on July 23, 2007, 11:30:42 AM
What do you say? Did he die or did he survive.

He is most definately dead. Until Troy Denning decides to write a book about him.

Well if somebody writes a book about him claiming he is not dead, it should be Timothy Zahn. I started this topic because there are somebody (other SW characters) who believe that Thrawn didn't die in Bilbringi.

I want to believe he didn't

so do I.

I doubt Rukh would have been careless enough to give him a chance at survival

If he didn't die, I wonder how old he would be after the LotF books...
Title: Re: Did Thrawn die in Bilbringi?
Post by: Corey on July 23, 2007, 03:43:16 PM
REALLY old. He was older than Gilad Pellaeon I think...
Title: Re: Did Thrawn die in Bilbringi?

They probably pretty close, Pelleaon was a captain at the clone wars but Thrawn was a captain a few years before, they were probably close in age
Title: Re: Did Thrawn die in Bilbringi?
Post by: Corey on July 23, 2007, 04:19:09 PM
Yes, they were definately close. And Pellaeon wasn't exactly young in the Vong War and Dark Nest Crisis, Thrawn would probably be deaf and his most used phrase would probably be 'what was that sonny'.

if I remember right Palleon learned a lot of things from Grand Admiral Thrawn.  but palleon would never be a 2nd Thrawn. I would agree with Arb thrawn would probably be saying what was the captain?

do we know the chiss life span though?

I think he died. He could not have survived. They did find the body right. I want him to still be alive though.
Title: Re: Did Thrawn die in Bilbringi?

They didn't really have to find it, a whole bunch of people were standing next to him, Pellaeon included... He was in his command chair...

I sure hope they found it, a blue man in a white blood-stained suit sitting in the middle of the room
Title: Re: Did Thrawn die in Bilbringi?
Post by: Raptor on July 23, 2007, 09:24:50 PM
I think he should be alive, someone shold make a poll out of this.
Title: Re: Did Thrawn die in Bilbringi?
Post by: Scarecrow63 on July 23, 2007, 10:30:13 PM
I dont think anyone would have wanted him to die
Title: Re: Did Thrawn die in Bilbringi?
Post by: Nezill on July 24, 2007, 12:04:25 AM
And I don't think we need so many frivolous polls.
Title: Re: Did Thrawn die in Bilbringi?
Post by: Corey on July 24, 2007, 12:05:05 AM
Do you now.... Maybe we should have a poll asking if there should be more!
Title: Re: Did Thrawn die in Bilbringi?

Im all for that!
Title: Re: Did Thrawn die in Bilbringi?
Post by: junot on July 24, 2007, 01:41:38 AM
wow im gone a week and there are tons of polls.... anyway it would be cool if he didnt die...but rukh stabbed him through the middle of his chest, other words the heart.
Title: Re: Did Thrawn die in Bilbringi?

Well average lifespan for humans is 120 years and if chiss have the same that means Thrawn could still be alive. And chiss propably had longer than average human lifespan. Besides it is possible that Pellaeon was older than Thrawn. Pellaeon was born in 57 BBY and Outbound Flight was destroyed in 27 BBY. There is 30 years between those years and Thrawn was the youngest ever Force Commander in the Expansionary Fleet. That suggest that Thrawn was about 20 or little over. but definetly I wouldn't say he was 30 or over. So I think Thrawn was younger than Pellaeon. And even if Rukh stabbed Thrawn, he could have used a douple like Pellaeon decades later.

Post by: Meyer on July 24, 2007, 11:19:56 AM
Well this poll was about personal theories and hypothesis, because we don't have concrete evidence.
Title: Re: Did Thrawn die in Bilbringi?
Post by: Corey on July 24, 2007, 12:09:22 PM
He never expected Rukh's betrayal, nd he's not the type that would use doubles... His only safeguard was that clone in the Hand of Thrawn.
Title: Re: Did Thrawn die in Bilbringi?
Post by: Meyer on July 24, 2007, 12:25:22 PM
maybe he expected. He mentioned that there was something suspicious in noghri. Never underestimate Thrawn.
Title: Re: Did Thrawn die in Bilbringi?
Post by: Corey on July 24, 2007, 12:33:14 PM
I do not underestimate Thrawn. He suspected the Noghri of something, but he wasn't sure what. It took Disra ten years to find a person who looks like Thrawn, he couldn't just do it in the time between Bilbringi and Xa Fel. If he was alive, what was he doing during the whole Vong war?
Title: Re: Did Thrawn die in Bilbringi?
Post by: Meyer on July 24, 2007, 12:53:43 PM
Who says that Disra looked a Thrawn douple for 10 years and maybe Thrawn returned to Chiss Ascendancy to help them repell possible Yuuzhan Vong attacks.
Title: Re: Did Thrawn die in Bilbringi?
Post by: Corey on July 24, 2007, 01:13:48 PM
Disra says. And if anything, he would have gone to the Empire of the Hand, but there is no proof that he did. He would have gone straight there, which he quite obviously didn't.
Title: Re: Did Thrawn die in Bilbringi?
Post by: Scarecrow63 on July 24, 2007, 01:25:40 PM
Yeah, if he was alive he would have gone to either the ascendency or the empire of the hand, either of which im pretty sure Fel would have noticed and Pelleaon too
Title: Re: Did Thrawn die in Bilbringi?
Post by: Meyer on July 24, 2007, 02:06:28 PM
you never now. I mean there are some who believe Thrawn is alive. I want to hope he is, but I doubt it.

No. Where did you get that idea? back to the topic.
Title: Re: Did Thrawn die in Bilbringi?

As much as i would have liked Thrawn to have lived, i seriously doubt it was possible for him to have survived
Title: Re: Did Thrawn die in Bilbringi?
Post by: junot on July 25, 2007, 02:59:54 PM
ah but if he did that would be totally awesome! oh well
Title: Re: Did Thrawn die in Bilbringi?
Post by: Raptor on July 25, 2007, 03:10:52 PM
Whatdo you mean "Oh Well". He could still be alive.
Title: Re: Did Thrawn die in Bilbringi?
Post by: junot on July 25, 2007, 03:14:31 PM
but i dont think he is. and even if there was a clone it still wouldnt technically be him. it would be a clone with his memories
Title: Re: Did Thrawn die in Bilbringi?
Post by: GrndAdmrlPellaeon on July 26, 2007, 10:58:15 AM
But he would be Thrawn. He would have everything Thrawn had except his exact name.
Title: Re: Did Thrawn die in Bilbringi?

no he would be a copy of thrawn not thrawn
Title: Re: Did Thrawn die in Bilbringi?

clone can't be the original.
Title: Re: Did Thrawn die in Bilbringi?

my point exactly
Title: Re: Did Thrawn die in Bilbringi?
Post by: Scarecrow63 on July 26, 2007, 11:46:00 PM
Maybe some cloning master will see Thrawns old command chair at a garage sale and buy it, get some old blood from it, and clone him
Title: Re: Did Thrawn die in Bilbringi?
Post by: junot on July 27, 2007, 01:44:05 AM
maybe but it is a bit far fetched....the blood would probably be useless by then.
Title: Re: Did Thrawn die in Bilbringi?
Post by: Scarecrow63 on July 27, 2007, 01:53:21 AM
dna is never useless, i saw a story on the news, they took this one guys dna and found him to be the ancestor of a skeleton they found that was 4000 years old using that dna
Title: Re: Did Thrawn die in Bilbringi?
Post by: junot on July 27, 2007, 03:59:53 AM
thanks for telling i figured if you waited so long that the blood would be unable to give you a good enough sample of dna to clone someone.

of course trawn is  alive he simply went into hiding during the vongwar
Title: Re: Did Thrawn die in Bilbringi?
Post by: Corey on July 27, 2007, 01:40:53 PM
His whole life was leading up to the Vong War. He joined the empire because he saw it as the best hope to unite the galaxy to fight the Vong. He wouldn't disappear a decade and a half or so before they came. And then note how he hasn't come back yet, around 10 years after the war.

Thrawn is dead, and he isn't coming back.
Title: Re: Did Thrawn die in Bilbringi?
Post by: Meyer on July 27, 2007, 02:02:39 PM
yep. That must be the best evidence that he is dead. He would have never sit down the YV war. unless he helped GFFA to win it in secrecy, which I doubt.
Title: Re: Did Thrawn die in Bilbringi?

I really doubt it would have went so badly if Thrawn had anything to do with it

If he wanted it to look convincing. But still hes not coming back.
