Wrong again. BULLETS kill people.
Title: Re: Guns
Post by: Slornie on July 19, 2007, 08:34:36 AM
If the bullet was just standing on a shelf it wouldnt be killing anyone, though neither would a gun.

Post by: Meyer on July 19, 2007, 08:35:57 AM
true. But if I pull a trigger, I fire the gun and that gun releases a bullet that can be lethal but not nessesary.

having a gun does not mean you have to kill people. What if someone breaks into your house with a gun? The police do not innstantly appear. and i doubt anyone on this forum could take a thief in hand-to-hand combat, even without a gun. Counter that. 8)

not even the normal police have guns in the UK

Tobi thinks that is very safe to have.

Tobi would rather get shot by a robber than own a gun.

Replying to Arb. You got that from Casino Royale. I would take my chances in them not finding a gun, because the common thief is not that smar, and they hurry to take your suff, that is not a priority for them.

Eh? Never seen a James Bond movie, hopefully never will. I got it more or less from a conversation I had years ago...

Owning a gun isn't really necessary unless you are a licensed hunter or a government worker. If guns weren't handed out like party favors to people who don't need them, then you wouldn't have to worry about armed robbers. And people in this forum are probably just as unskilled in hand-to-hand combat as the common thief.

unless somebody in here is a karate masterr. but I don't think anybody is.

The only problem i have with guns is the lack of gun control here in the US, too many retards with guns who end up accidentally shooting someone, exp: Dick Cheney

Post by: Meyer on July 20, 2007, 03:59:33 AM
Have you watched Penn & Teller episode Gun Control? you should. There shouldn't be gun control, because only people who obey it are those who don't shoot people. Criminals don't care, gun control or not they shoot people.

People own automatic guns, and that is illegal, so why would that law stop them.

Gun control isnt just about using them, its about controlling how they get the guns, right now anyone could walk into a pawn shop and get a pistol

I would love to have a gun. I would prefer it to be AvtomatKalashnikova-47. The best gun in the world.

If people that shoot people are shooting people why would they bother to follow a law that says no guns? Then the death rate will skyrocket because noone can defend themselves.

You realize this defense you speak of would only switch who the victim was, not decrease the death rate?

No guns, robber shoots and kills houseowner.

Guns, houseowner may or may not shoot robber, get shot by robber or get shot with own gun by robber.

Guns, houseowner may or may not shoot robber, get shot by robber or get shot with own gun by robber.

The odds are the robber will shoot the houseowner first.
Title: Re: Guns

So then does it make much sense to carry one as a means of self defense?
Title: Re: Guns
Post by: Scarecrow63 on July 24, 2007, 09:29:38 PM
Most robbers would run if someone pulled a gun on them, and i really doubt the robber would find your gun, hes trying to be as fast as possible

What?  How does saving your own life make you a murderer?

I cant beleive how stupid you sound.
Title: Re: Guns

well if you kill someone it is either man slaughter or murder, even if you try to save your own life.

What? That is not true. What crack are you smoking? Read the constitution!

You wont be charged. Take well..., this is a hard one ANYBODY IN THE MILITARY
Title: Re: Guns

There's different exceptions to homicide. If you kill according to the laws of war, you are excused. If you kill for any other reason, you are subject to investigation and judgment by some authority, even police.
Title: Re: Guns
Post by: Raptor on July 26, 2007, 09:56:03 PM
If their investigation concludes to you defending your own life you will not be charged.
Title: Re: Guns

With equal force, and ever there it depends.

What? You people are not paying attention very well in school. The CONSTITUTION says you can NOT be charged if the self defense is justified. Meyer who cares if you live in Finland. Arbiter lives in Canada and hes going along with the discussion the way it was intended.

I pay attention in school, thank you very much.

I actually went and looked up interpretations of the law and a tad bit of its history when this argument came up and like I said before: you can meet someone with equal force legally, and even there it depends.

No matter what you can not be charged with Capitol Punishment if you are defending yourself, maybe jail time, but not death. Take Dog the Bounty Hunter.

If someone invades your home and is threatening you, u wont be charged if you shoot them
Title: Re: Guns
Post by: Nezill on July 26, 2007, 10:52:57 PM
You can be, if he has a knife and you shoot him, you get some nice time in jail.

You can only meet them with equal force, and sometimes even that is called into question.
