Title: Top 100 - Lucrehulk Render
Post by: Corey on December 14, 2012, 07:30:59 PM
Thanks to all of your amazing support, we've made it into the Top 100 in MotY for the third year in a row with Imperial Civil War, and also for the first time since its announcement this year with Ascendancy. Thanks to everyone who voted!

So to thank everyone, here's one of the new Pentastar Capital Ships coming in 2.1, the Lucrehulk. Model by Davis.

My favorite warship in the former Trade Federation. And  since it was my favorite I feel obligated to ask a few questions about it. So far I think you have done an outstanding job on following official cannon when it comes to the features of the ships, and I would assume you would continue down that path. However I feel I must ask anyway, will it retain all of its canonical strengths and weaknesses?

We intend to follow the same proportional armament system we have for everything else so far. The version we?re primarily going by is the Battleship. It's going to be relatively fragile as it was canonically, however we will not be maintaining its weakness to having 9 year olds fly into it and destroy the movie. I mean ship.

Which faction will it be for?

"here's one of the new Pentastar Capital Ships coming in 2.1,"

So it will be for the Pentastar Alignment.  :P

Other than I think they're ugly, woo-hoo!!!  PA needs more fun stuff, doubly so since this shouldn't have anything in any way related to Tie fighters associated with it.

Why can't there be TIEs associated with it?

You've stated again and again the reason you don't put certain fighters in is due to authenticity, and Lucrehulks never had a Tie launched from one in canon universe.

No, that's a reason we don't put certain fighters into the mod, or don't put them in certain factions. Which fighters are put on which ship is almost always just about which roles need to be filled unless there's specific information about which they were outfitted with in which case those fighters are given preferential treatment.

For the Lucrehulk all we know is that ths CIS used the Vulture droids on them. That says nothing about what the Corporate Sector used on them, and absolutely nothing about what the Pentastar Alignment used on them, since the Pentastar Alignment acquiring the CSA's assets is hypothetical in the first place, based just on their locations, philosophies, and me reading about a corporate merger in the news a few months ago. All we really know is that they wouldn't be Vulture droids. If we ever do the IRD-A or something like that they'd probably be the primary fighters it launches because those were the primary CSA fighter, but that doesn't mean it couldn't carry TIE Fighters for the PA.

I take it that it will predominantly be a medium armed carrier?

So would this Starship become a combination of all Lucrehulk series types or will we see more as such available?

Lucrehulk-class destroyer (Medium Carrier/light Capital ship)
Lucrehulk-class container vessel (carrier?)
Lucrehulk-class cruiser ( Medium armed light capital ship)
Lucrehulk-class LH-3210 cargo freighter (carrier/frigate)
Lucrehulk-class Battleship (Capital Ship)

As for the fighters I would still think that some may have survived aboard this great warships as they were literally stacked ceiling high with weapons of war not just including Vulture droids but Advanced Droid Starfighters, Belbullab-22 starfighters, Droid tri-fighter and possible NovaSwords could be usable and still available to some extent.

It'd be pretty redundant to have a bunch of barely different types. The type we will be using is the Battleship, since that's what the CSA had and we're building their access through the CSA. We'll be using existing Pentastar fighters for it as well; I'm don't think the CSA bought any of the CIS fighters except Mankvims.

ooh! just imagine how many TIE Hunters you could stack in this baby!(lol JK I know that would be WAAAAY OPed.)
TIE Fighters would fit well as they were meant for mass attacks so fittings for them would be easy to rig in the Lucrehulk which were designed as heavy carriers anyway I suppose.

A Lucrehulk with hunters?  That makes too much sense!  I mean, that's what I would do, even though it'd be unfair.

Hey, I like having the advantage :)

It'll probably be mostly the V-19s. We also have models of CSA fighters we might use if we ever skin them.

Well the Empire did use some as flight schools.

The Rebs had one too that attacked the Death Star at Despayre(in the novel Death Star) that had been retrofitted to carry tons of X Wings so it's easily conceivable that the early Imps would use it for training purposes(as in to fight against in sims or so) The corporate alliance used em all the way to the Vong war and it's very possible the PA might have had some and refitted them to carry TIEs. wouldn't be hard and would be very cost effective.

I always really like how this ship looked and your model looks spot-on.

If I may put forth a suggestion, I would suggest that you not make this ship a high tier ship like most other mods tend to do. By the time that the battle of Endor took place, this ship was growing obsolete.

Either way, the model looks great  :)
