Since we're releasing in a few weeks, we thought we'd give a few more details on the content in 2.0, specifically the unit lists. Since 2.0 has so many changes and is essentially a whole new mod, and for any new players who don't have as much knowledge about previous versions, this post will have full unit lists for ICW2.0, as opposed to just listing the new content. Specific era changes will not be discussed here, however all of that kind of information will be covered in the manual, which will be released a few days before the final mod release.
We're still on track for release within the next few weeks, however it will probably be closer to August 10th due to some real-life commitments of a few team members.
Any content that has been changed for 2.0 will have an asterisk* beside it. New units are bolded, and redone models and skins are italicized. There may be a few changes/additions, but other than that this is final.

New Republic Star Destroyer is out?
-
The New Republic star destroyer is the nebula.
-
He means the Republic-class Star Destroyer.
There's two problems with it. The first and primary problem is that the ship itself is redundant. It's way too similar to the Nebula to be worth having. The second problem is that the basic design of the ship is irredeemably ugly. If a ship is important enough in canon we'll usually put it in even if it sort of encroaches on another ship's role, but the Republic was only in one book, and even in that book it took a backseat to the Nebula and Endurance. We'll also sometimes do it if we really like a design, but the design is also terrible. There's really no reason to put it in the mod.
It wasn't even supposed to stay in for 1.0, but it's made it through the cracks for a year and a half.

I concur, it is an ugly ship
-
Shouldn't the Dushkan League show an Executor listed as a unique (Pride of Yevetha)?
-
Yeah, fixed. Thanks.
-
Always did prefer the EvilJedi model for it than the one in the current build. Has the nebula been buffed then though? Feels quite weak.
-
I'd say the Nebula's one of the most powerful units in the game.
The damage outputs of the top five non-SSDs are:
Phalanx - 405 - 2000 meters -EotH
Tector - 365 - 1600 meters - Remnant
Nebula - 300 - 1040 meters -New Republic
Syndic - 283 - 1500 meters - EotH
ISDII - 270 -1600 meters -Remnant
I think these numbers are slightly outdated for the Syndic; It should be under the ISDII but above the ISDI at this point right now, but it's all in the right range.
The Republic model was never really one we liked, it was only in because of how many people were requesting it. Honestly, I don't like EJ's that much either though.
-
I take it you're throwing the Praetor-II in as an SSD for that classification, since I would hope it would beat out an ISDII.
-
I am. It's somewhere up around 800.
-
What are the Heavy Tracker and Rebel Armored Freerunner anyway?
-
The Armoured Freerunner is a medium vehicle with two anti-infantry and one anti-vehicle turret, pictured here (http://www.moddb.com/mods/thrawns-revenge/images/armoured-freerunner-ingame#imagebox). Its closest analogue that I can think of would be the Imperial 1M tanks but that's a bit of a stretch. They're my favourite NR unit.
The Heavy Tracker is basically a heavily armoured transport with some other utility to it, pictured here (http://www.moddb.com/mods/thrawns-revenge/images/new-republic-heavy-tracker#imagebox).
-
Why thank you for clearing that one up so quickly Corey. But basically they Freerunner is a land variant of the Gallofree my favorite "land unit", I guess?
-
Wrong way around, but yeah the Heavy Tracker is somewhat similar to the Gallofree HTT.
-
Both are very useful
-
What is the century tank ... ???
-
TIE Crawler. Names are basically interchangeable.
-
Well, where do I need to start?
The Pentastar Alignment is simply too weak.
You should need to give it a few more units, to balance the game. For example makeing the Vengeance-class Star Dreadnought buildabble, and also giving a GC AI to it because it haven't got at the moment...
I'm looking forward to the new features you're creating at the moment...
-
It's not at all weak. They start with 2 SSD's, have one of the best carriers in the game (Venator), have the strongest (if, IMO, overpriced in how many unit slots it takes) non-SSD capitol ship in the game (Praetor-II), has one of the most balanced capitol ships in the game (ISD-II), and have the best escort carrier (since it has Tie Hunters, one of the best spawned fighters).
-
and the PA's ground forces are nothing to scuff at either!

The PA is no weaker than the other factions; economically they start off worse off, however 2 free SSDs more than makes up for it, and for the same reason them not having buildable SSDs isn't an issue. Having fewer units doesn't make them any weaker either considering they're not actually missing anything, it's just that they have the same units for all 5 eras instead of changing between eras, do at any given time they actually still have the same amount, and keep in mind that the era changes don't necessarily make the other factions stronger. Nothing the NR has in era 1 can even really stand up to a Praetor. And I'd say barring the currently OP Gilzean, the PA also has the best assortment of ground units.
The lack of Galactic AI is not a balance issue, it's a performance issue. In most of the GCs they're in, they do have a galactic AI, however in Art of War for each faction's version one of the other 4 factions has their AI disabled. When you're playing as the IR and NR, that faction is the PA, but again, that's only this one GC. This is explained in several places. This is because EaW is a poorly made, buggy and generally terrible game with one specific bug that causes unit selections and orders to stop working after a certain amount has happened. The more planets and factions fighting for said planets, the sooner it happens. Since AoW has 93 planets, when we had all 4 active, that meant planets changed hands every 2 seconds and it would hit the freeze at week 50. With one faction disabled, it can usually get to at least 200-300, we've gotten as high as 500 without it freezing. It's not ideal but it's a nevessary trade off.

Hailfires are probably one of my favourite land units in the game.
-
Hailfires are probably one of my favourite land units in the game.
For someone like me that actually dislikes ground battles in EAW, the hailfire is perfect for spamming and laziness. I love that unit.
Don't get me wrong, big AOE, red alert, C&C fan but EAW ground battles make me want to cry and sometimes I gladly take the auto-resolve loss.
-
Big fan of the Hailfires. I actually agreed with JC on ground battles until the recent change by the team of not having unlimited reinforcements spawn. NOW, I find I actually REALLY enjoy the ground combat most of the time.
-
The game very much favors space combat with ground as a secondary focus. The mod improved on this oversight.
