Has anyone read the actual Lord of the Rings books, just outta curiosity? I know most people have seen the movies, but has anyone read the books? I like the books, even though they're kinda slow at times. What do you guys think?
-
I liked em, coulfn't get into the silmarillion though, never got past the 5th chapter before putting it down, try as I might.
-
I give you credit. I couldn't finish the first chapter. There's a new one called Children of Hurin or something
-
I have read the original LotR books. they were great. they told things very differently than the movies. I mean some events in books didn't happen in movies at all. And that thing when elves come to help Rohan, didn't happen
-
nope, never read them, i just cant get into them - the films are great, but the books are so long/such small print
ive read the Hobbit though - i wonder what the film version of that will be like...
-
Nor I, I think I read the first two chapters of The Hobbit. I remember seeing the first film in the trilogy, and the last but, not the second.
-
you both should read the books.
-
I probably will sooner or later, Right now I'm reading The Legacy Of The Force Trilogy though.
-
lotr books are good their are bits in them that arnt in the film as well
-

i have a book-reading-time deficit at the moment - and once that is over i have a nice list of new books to buy and read...
-

LotF has 9 books, not three....
-
Point taken, Not a trilogy then, More a series?
-
trilogy
So yeah, series.
-
Well regardless, I'll get around it LOTR's books after I get done with LOTF series.
-
I'll read LotF series as soon as they come to Finland. So year or two still to wait
-
ive read the second and third books of LotF - i havent found the first or any of the later ones yet.
-
I've read all of the ones out, Inferno better be good....
-
Which is the best LotR movie there is?
-
My personal opinion would be Return Of The King.
-
My favourite too.
-
i dunno, i like the battle at Helms Deep (whichever one thats in) and at Minastireth, and a couple of the other bits - cant really remember cos i havent seen then in ages
-
Helm's Deep was Two Towers, and Minas Tirith was Return of the King. In my opinion RotK is the best. Lots of action, along with some classic humor from Gimli and Legolas.
-
"There is plenty for both of us. Let the best DWARF win."
-
*needs to go on LotR film watching spree after exams*
EDIT: having watched FotR and tTT again, they've reminded me that i did read the LotR trilogy - just a long while ago.
-
I read few years ago.
-
Read em around when I was 8 or 9..... I need to re-read em again someday though.
'That still only counts as one!'
-
the best pipe-weed in Middle-earth.
Did anybody knew that the elven languange Noldor is based upon Finnish?
-
Not till now.
-
Read Hobbit. Although I hate magic stuff ( excluding the Force) it was a pretty good read. I suspect the Lord of the rings is better i most likely wont read them.
