So if the Republic's alphabet was the Aurabesh, then how would they know that their fighters resembled English letters? Food for thought...

I brought this up in the staff chat about a week ago and Zer got angry with me.

Magic?

*cough* High Galactic Alphabet (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/High_Galactic_alphabet).

Well here's a theory. The A,X,B,K, Y and V wings could be named not for their shape but for some other characteristic.
For instance, B wing probably stands for BOMBER
V for velocity
X for the way the targeting system is represented(I.E. the crosshairs)
(I don't have a clue for the rest but that could be why they are called by those names. it may have nothing to do with the alphabet)

Its funny I just remembered that Obi-Wan had a line in episode III where he said that it was time for "plan B". Another weird occurrence. :P

So it's in the alphabet of the Galactic Bourgeoisie?

On a similar note, I found an interesting (by interesting I mean funny =D) thread on Star Wars inconsistencies: http://nightly.net/topic/114-the-official-star-wars-give-me-any-inconsistency-and-ill-explain-it-away-thread/
Seems Legit... ;)
