Title: Build pads

I rely on build pads to defend planets when I don't have a strong enough defence force. one thing caught my eye recently. Why are there almost no build pads on any maps?

It's because you're not supposed to be relying on buildpads, basically. In EaW they were a way to just automatically win any battle you weren't prepared for, because they were so overpowered. A few is fine, but in EaW you could barely go anywhere on the map without seeing them. They basically made it possible to take a whole planet with just one unit. We're trying to put a focus on preparation for GC battles as opposed to just going in and paying 90 credits for something, camping and watching as they get built and rebuilt and decimate the whole enemy force. I mean, I've seen mods where you can build regular turbolaser towers on them, and it's like, really?

The only real purpose they served in EaW that was't completely unfair was as basically the only thing whioch could counter air units, however since we don't have any in the mod right now even that's moot. If we do re-add air units, it'll be because we were able to make them not be so universally untargetable.

Wait, The NR has those Air Transports that can fire on ground units don't they?(which I found out to my GREAT surprise in GC as the IR)
