Title: crashing with modified bat/shortcuts
Post by: Lucinator on December 09, 2010, 08:31:31 AM
I am running the game on windows seven and since some mods come with shortcuts to a different location than where the game is installed I have tried to modify the shortcuts or create custom bat files.  Whenever I do this I get this error message.

Exception in thread 13AC - Main Thread
Exception code EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION
The thread tried to read from or write to a virtual address for which it does not have the appropriate access.
Attempt to read from address 00000018

Exception occurred at 0091C0AE - Unknown code pointer

any help?

Can you give us some more details please?

- Which version of Windows 7?
- How much RAM do you have?
- Is this EAW or FoC?
- Does the base game work fine?
- Do you have this problem with all mods, or just some? If the latter, which mods?
- Where do you have EAW/FoC installed, and what do you have in the bat/shortcut?

professional
8gb
Foc
base game works fine
only mods where I have to edit the shortcut to change from program files to (x86) or try to create a custom bat file

the bats look like
swfoc MODPATH=Mods\RotC

the shortcuts look like
target: "C:\Program Files (x86)\LucasArts\Star Wars Empire at War Forces of Corruption\swfoc.exe" MODPATH=Mods\rotc
start in: "C:\Program Files (x86)\LucasArts\Star Wars Empire at War Forces of Corruption"

Okay, for each of the mods that doesn't work go into its xml folder and find the GraphicDetails.xml file.  If its there, delete it (or cut/paste it somewhere else if you prefer).  From what i can tell, that should fix it.
