Title: Best fleet commander ?

who do you think - from any allegiance ? - i would say 'with the exception of Thrawn as he is obviously outstanding' but it would probably get me banned :P

personally i think that Admiral Ackbar was a good strategist...

Well if you don't count Thrawn that is a hard question. But I would have to say.............................. Pellaeon or Ackbar.

I have to agree with Dr. Nick that Bel Iblis was a great commander.

yes, Bel Iblis was good, another person i think was good is Wedge Antilles, when he moved away from piloting a starfighter

Bel Iblis isn't my favourite and neither is Wedge Antilles who is good fighter pilot but not much of a fleet commander

what about that Bothan from the Dark Nest trilogy - the one who repeatedly beat the 'Thrawn Simulator' ? - i would have thought he would be quite a good commander - but then again, fighting against a simulation is hardly the same as fighting against the real thing is it.

you mean Nek Bwua'tu? I agree. If he would have been fighting against real Thrawn, he would have been defeated. I mean he won Thrawn in old battles, he knew what Thrawn would do next.

and a computer program wouldnt have the intuition of the real Thrawn, couldnt act irrational, wouldnt be able to use how the opponent moves/responds to determine species, and thus psychological blindspots - the technology wasnt there - as the battle computer Pallaeon tested in the hand of thrawn story shows

well - either everyone misread what i wrote, or people decided to agree with me (in that Thrawn is outstanding) and picked who they think is the next best fleet commander

I chose the second best in my opinion. The best of all is of course THRAWN
