Title: Empire At War Mods Suggestion
Post by: SCPX on March 05, 2007, 10:07:48 PM
Other than Thrawn's Revenge, which everyone would want anyway, what other EAW mods would people suggest?

Imperial Assault II looks promising
Title: Re: Empire At War Mods Suggestion
Post by: SCPX on March 06, 2007, 03:26:53 PM
Yeah, it does. But I don't think it'll be out for a long while.

Ages of Star Wars looks pretty cool right now.  The beta was a bit buggy, but that was why it was a beta. The only "problem" was you had to download the music seperatly from the mod.

Post by: Dr. Knickers on March 10, 2007, 03:55:19 PM
Yeah, it had coding problems mostly.
Title: Re: Empire At War Mods Suggestion
Post by: SCPX on March 10, 2007, 07:22:51 PM
When I downloaded that, it screwed up all my EAW files. Maybe once it's official, I'll try again, but I don't think I'll try before then. Looks cool though...

I enjoyed the Bailknight Mod, especially the LAAT/s. I thought he handled that well.

I just found a new mod called Rise of Rebellion, it enabled diplomacy.  It looks very good.

it looks good, it will be interesting to see what differences to gameplay the diplomacy makes
Title: Re: Empire At War Mods Suggestion
Post by: SCPX on April 15, 2007, 01:59:27 PM
I'm curious to know how the diplomacy will work. Will you just put someone there and they start talking? or will it open up a mission type effect that you have to work through?

You could always download it and find out  ;D

Title: Re: Empire At War Mods Suggestion

i'll just wait for it to come out as a complete mod i think - in the time being there are plenty of other fish in the sea - or cyberspace
Title: Re: Empire At War Mods Suggestion
Post by: SCPX on April 17, 2007, 12:24:05 PM
I downloaded one public beta before, and was really disappointed. Ever since then, I wait for a full release before downloading. (with some exceptions)

Yeah I don't blame you after the Betas have way too many bugs which messed up my games!
I'll still download the upcoming minimod for Thrawn's Revenge though! ;D

I'm looking at Ages of Star Wars, ThrRev, SotE, and z3r0x's FoC Addon v4
Title: Re: Empire At War Mods Suggestion
Post by: SCPX on May 14, 2007, 12:10:10 PM
z3r0x is coming out with a 4th FoC addon?! Will he at least make the Yuuzhan Vong playable? I hope so...
Title: Re: Empire At War Mods Suggestion
Post by: Slornie on May 14, 2007, 12:22:30 PM
his 4th release is the clone wars - Republic at War
Title: Re: Empire At War Mods Suggestion

That's the third mod with that name...
Title: Re: Empire At War Mods Suggestion
Post by: Slornie on May 14, 2007, 04:53:05 PM
i bet his will get a lot of attention though - it looks to be quite extensive - with some people comparing it to IA2
Title: Re: Empire At War Mods Suggestion
Post by: Darth Dino on May 14, 2007, 04:57:07 PM
I've seen it's screen shots and renders and I think that it's looks better than IAII. I don't know how it'll play though.
Title: Re: Empire At War Mods Suggestion
Post by: Slornie on May 14, 2007, 05:04:13 PM
but in any case - RaW is for FoC rather than EAW
Title: Re: Empire At War Mods Suggestion
Post by: SCPX on May 17, 2007, 04:05:05 PM
Wait a minute... z3r0x's most recent mod was partially clone wars already. Are you meaning he's gonna make a full clone wars faction? I wonder if it'll include the Rebels and the Empire still...
Title: Re: Empire At War Mods Suggestion

Post by: SCPX on May 21, 2007, 11:47:39 AM
No, I don't imagine I will be disappointed. I just can't wait for it to come...

The problem with New Imperial Heroes is that it doesn't go into the Mod folder. I only install mods that have been built for the mod folder, not affecting the original game. If only I knew how to shift them...
Title: Re: Empire At War Mods Suggestion
Post by: Tyrant on May 24, 2007, 09:17:28 AM
Version three of New Imperial Heroes will have that fixed. The idea in the original release was that you could add those heroes into any mod, just replace the files with the ones in the mod. Since the new FoC version will be more extensive, then it will have it's own seperate folder.

Here is a mod I cam across recently. And I must say I hopped I came about it sooner. It's from my knowledge the latest from SMG(Steiner Modding Group). If you ever played the Star Wars game Rebellion you'll find this mod is strikingly similar. It's called "Awakening of the Rebellion." It's an EAW mod, However plans are in the making of making a FOC mod. Which is going to be grand if they make it the same way. I love mostly how there is no "LAG" in the Galactic Conquest maps. It's just a wonderful mod. In my opinion worth a download.

Thrawn's Revenge will have no lag in the GC, because of a few changes made.  Just wait and see.
Title: Re: Empire At War Mods Suggestion
Post by: Wal-Mart Shoplifter on May 25, 2007, 10:35:56 AM
Haha, Trust me I look forward to Thrawn's Revenge more than any other of them. But there is will always be a soft spot for any mod that mimics the theme/game play of Star Wars Rebellion.
Title: Re: Empire At War Mods Suggestion
Post by: Darth Dino on May 25, 2007, 01:11:51 PM
Some one already released a demo for a mod that has the gameplay of Rebellion.

Awesome, Do you have a link to the mod?, If so it would be appreciated.
Title: Re: Empire At War Mods Suggestion
Post by: Corey on May 25, 2007, 04:37:11 PM
No lag? No, there'll be lag... Just less. We've eliminated 99.9% of the lag caused by the planets themselves, nothing we can do about the main lag causer for the Galactic map, the AI. If you're expecting galactic maps anywhere near the size of Rebellion's, you'll be dissappointed, it'd be really pushing it to go into triple digits.

i think it would be cool if you could blockade trade routes and you got its income until the opposing faction reclaims that patch of space but fleets could only be put there no space  stations although laser turret defences could still be built within a battle
Title: Re: Empire At War Mods Suggestion
Post by: Wal-Mart Shoplifter on May 26, 2007, 09:35:48 AM
That does sounds like a darn good idea to introduce, With that in mind within a blockade over a planet if mines are built that number should be subtracted towards the opposite player who owns the planet. Production should cease all together.

the thing is that annoys me is that consortium can blow up structures and rebels acn raid and all the empire can do is send in probes
i like in conflict in space how u can have boba fett a few squads of storm commandos and some tie phantoms which can go around the galaxy undetected and invade planets even better than how the rebels can with ease

While I understand what you mean, I'm not sure I'd agree. The Empire couldn't raid, because they couldn't sneak past things. Stormtroopers were the most obvious thing on the street. However, they did gain bonuses by the fact that they could easily outnumber the Rebels whenever they wanted. My complaint is that the Rebels get missile launchers, while the Empire doesn't. The Empire did have shock troopers, who carried missile launchers, so that seems unfair.
Also, what the Empire had that the Rebels didn't, was bounty hunters. The Rebels refused to deal with them, while the Empire used them for all they were worth. I don't like the way EAW handles it, but that was one of the benefits the Empire had.
Title: Re: Empire At War Mods Suggestion
Post by: Corey on June 05, 2007, 03:51:29 PM
Not true, you have the bounty hunter thing backwards. Many bounty hunters worked for the rbellion at one point or another, such as Zuckuss and 4-LOM. The Empire in general hated dealing with bounty hunters and smugglers, considering them scum, but Vader had very few problems with dealing with them.

AA guns.

I've played the AoSW JCW 2.0. Personally, it's rather disappointing. Considering what the team kept promising, they had very little heroes, no technology progression, no story yet, malfunctioning buildings, (the Sith Academy) and no Star Forge! They don't even have unique soundbytes yet! So far, they've let down on their promise. I think they should take the couple of months to finish the project first.
Title: Re: Empire At War Mods Suggestion
Post by: Meyer on June 12, 2007, 02:26:35 PM
I don't know what they promised, but I think it's good little mod. You can play as Sith or Republic as they were over 3000 BBY. ships are great.

We didn't want all those canon freaks complaining about how there's no light side Revan with the Hawk or how the units we didn't model yet aren't with the crew.

I wouldn't call having filler models "malfunctioning" and as for the Star Forge, we have plans...
How does a high detail, up close map over the Star Forge sound? Once it's done of course.

If only we had some voice actors. I don't suppose you noticed Bastila and HK-47?

We did not promise that the Ebon Hawk would be in this release.
We did not promise that the Star Forge would be in this release.
We did not promise that the Trayus Academy model would be in this release.
We did not promise that new voices would be in this release.
We did not promise that a new campaign/story mode would be in this release.
We did not promise that we would be keeping tech levels in this release.
We did not promise that there would be a huge amount of heroes in this release.

I don't mean to be rude, but all the forums claim they will put in Mission and Zaalbar. It claims they will put Darth Traya in, as well as some other major Heroes, such as Atris. You keep mentioning great scenes with the Star Forge, but we're already on release 2 without the essential part. I'm not trying to criticize their work, which is great, but it seems like they are trying to get it out too early. I think they're rushing the mod a little bit and should not be releasing official mods, which seem incomplete.

from what you say there, you seem to be of the mind that if something is mentioned on the forum as an intention, it should be in the release - if that were the case, shouldnt TR have things like the Sun Crusher, Death Star Prototype, etc etc in the release ?

I know what you mean, but these things weren't just mentioned, they were agreed upon. They even produced renders of multiple HK bots!

Don't worry about it. It's just my personal opinion. Maybe they'll advance it in one of the later versions...
Title: Re: Empire At War Mods Suggestion

AoSW never said that they would be in that specific release. Also, when you talk to Nick about AoSW, I suggest using you rather than they.

You shouldn't base what is planned on being in a release on the renders shown between releases, if that was the case the minimod we released would have had every single ship, faction and planet we have shown and confirmed over the course of the year.

We're not on the final release you do realize. The mentioned things, as well as several others, will be in the mod, but not in the earlier releases. Why? Because they're not finalized yet.

If you could kindly direct me to a mod leader saying that the aforementioned things would be in the 2.0 release, then I'll kindly retract my words. If not, then maybe you think very carefully before bashing AoSW. Things might get...unpleasant for you.

I understand, and I will relax a little bit. But if the current AoSW releases are not the complete release, you might want to mention that. No where have you or the AoSW group mentioned this being a preview. I expect minimods and previews not to have all you hear about, but when you call something an official release, I usually assume it's the whole thing...

Anyway, I apologize for making such a big deal about this. It's just my personal opinion, and I understand the group is doing a lot of hard work. I think the mod looks great, although I hope it gets better in the future...
Title: Re: Empire At War Mods Suggestion

I believe it has been stated in the past (several times) by their leaders that AoSW is to be released in bits and pieces, leading up to the final whole release....

Regular EaW is better than AGD. A pile of horse droppings is better than AGD.

Ya i have found that the mediators are way stronger then the SSDs...makes me sad that the Empire wouldnt have the strongest capital ships...

Power to the Mac users. I would play on my mac but I dont have an Intel. Taking away the Empire's strength in Capital ships is not right. That is changing what the Empire is about. There are not that many good mods for EAW. Although the mods mentioned earlier are good ones. What i would like to see is a mod that makes cap limits non existent. For bigger battles. Its impossible to recreate any major battles with 20.

granted i never said that the mod was canon, i said it seemed fun enough to play for just pure enjoyment purposes nothing on the scale to be a top class mod though.

I didnt like AGD because it looked horrible, it was like he did the models by hand in the dark in three hours

I was just saying a mod with no cap limit would be nice. not that i was saying something more canon. im just annoyed that i cant use all of my money.

well, unlimited cap would probably eventually blow up your computer

Yes. The AI would DEFINATELY take advantage of it if you removed the population factor of each unit...

Yeah, I really don't want to see that!  Man, there would be a loss of strategy!

They don't always have to pay for some stuff.

I don't think your computer can handle thousands of AI ships coming in at once and attacking your own meager fleet. Pop cap stays, albeit higher.
