Title: Saber Battle Animations
Post by: Popemaster on September 09, 2009, 05:45:53 AM
I dint know if its the same in FOC but definitely in EAW if obi-wan and vader attacked each other they had a special animation of them smashing sabers together now i dint know if FOC keeps this or adds more for Yoda,Luke or palpatine but are you gonna do the same for Jedi or sith units/heroes?

The problem with hero clashes is each hero can only have one animation for them, so all of them for every hero would need to follow the exact same pattern or else it would look weird. We're doing them where we can (Cilghal and C'baoth use Obi-Wan's animations, so they have them, we've even shown pictures). However we don't have any animators on the team at the moment, or at least no active ones, so we'd be lucky to get what we have animated normally, let alone special stuff like that. Regular jedi probably wouldn't have them regardless, since hero clashes effect the stats of the units involved.

Ok Thanks. Btw do you have any pictures of Jedi units? and when you've made the herores how many did you create a new model completely?

We haven't finished the generic jedi yet, so there's no pictures of it. Bicko was supposed to be animating it, but he's disappeared. We almost always make our own models, however in some cases it's better to use something already in the game. Cilghal uses Obi-Wan's cloak and a Mon Cal head, C'baoth uses a new head and Obi-Wan's cloak, and Mara and Kyle are just the EaW models with a lightsaber and new animations. Corran, Kam, Jerec, etc all have completely new models.
