Never found them interesting.
I never liked Harrsk or Teradoc mainly because the first we really see of them is two spoiled children with fleets. I shared Pellaeon's distaste of Teradoc for his cowardice and belligerence as well as his belittling of a commander far above his own ability simply because of rank. They remind me far too much of too many NCOs and Officers I've had to stomach in the army.
Also speaking of which due to army delays and general unpleasantness(though hopefully not for much longer) Kosh will be coming out this weekend, I know I've said that before but I actually have a four day for pres day so you guys get Kosh AND a bonus character(Any character that is most requested) as compensation for my delays.

As far as Treuten goes he seems to be one who thrived on competition and conflict. When he secured his kingdom and all seemed to be stabilizing was when he started becoming complacent and made mistakes.
Yes he was motivated by outside sources to pus himself due to his inferiority complex, without that external drive he fell into over indulgence and complacency. I wouldn' even rate him very highly as a strategist, more an opportunist. He never really expanded successfully and was never able to salvage a deteriorating situation. I think Winter's description of him from The Bacta War is fairly telling of his abilities, "Vehemently anti rebel, beyond that nothing of particular note."
