Rapid-fire tank. Also, I'd go with Gilzean over MMT - the MMT has that slow recharge, meaning you take down one enemy at a time. If it's overwhelmed, it's going to lose. Gilzeans come in threes, have a decent powerful weapon, and can fire on the move. And once you've got Airstraekers in era 2, you're laughing.

The best land units to use is the "machinegun" tank an the MMT spam then and win everywhere

Like I said, I don't have a huge amount of experience with the EotH, but that strategy is the one I'll be running with the next time I give them a run... so if it doesn't work, I'm going to cover my ass in advance and say "my bad!" ;) The Hand MUST expand, most certainly, and the core planets are just too hotly contested for me to think they're the right target to start out with.

Thanks so much for the advice! I'll be sure to implement it next time I play as EoTH

Chafs and Syndics (and Phalanxes in era 3) are great for hit-and-run attacks thanks to their indestructible engines, and the EotH have generously been given half the retreat countdown. Drop them in, destroy key targets, then jump out. Don't expect to win through superior or overwhelming force all the time, fight wars of attrition.

The Hand must expand early on, or it will fall - this is also true for the PA.  I haven't played a huge amount as them, but I recommend the PA as your first target - they have a few rich planets and multiple level 3 shipyards, and while they do have two SSDs, the rest of their starting fleet is fairly lackluster.  Hit them hard and fast with most of your forces, use hit and run tactics to whittle down big fleets with minimal losses on your part, and don't stop advancing if you can help it.  Once they're gone, you'll have a solid economic base to build up, most of your worlds will be behind choke points that you can defend (on the ground is cheaper and plays to your lack of ground-to-space weapons), easy access to the rich CSA planets in the northeast and multiple potential routes of expansion.

Hello everyone, I was wondering if anyone has any advice for playing as the empire of the hand. I have trouble playing it on admiral. I'm more used to turtle strategy with the NR or an all out attack with the Empire. I've found that the EoTH doesn't have enough space forces to attack early on and that my defenses are fairly lackluster compared to other factions. If anyone could help me out I'd be very grateful.
