If you ask it...they will fix it...

I haven't bothered with anything like this in a long time, but the easiest thing to do is just change the tag       <Planet_Surface_Accessible> Yes </Planet_Surface_Accessible> to       <Planet_Surface_Accessible> No </Planet_Surface_Accessible>

Where it gets potentially tricky is that I think the game will not like it if it's done to every planet, so each faction needs to start with a planet that has a ground component (which essentially means if you lose that planet you lose the game) but again, haven't checked this in a long time so I'm not sure.

I'm sure there is a way.

The Star Trek mod completely disabled Land Combat as far as I know. Look at their mod?

Yeah, I suppose I'll just have to stick with Auto-resolve, and mass tanks/At-Ats etc

While that could work for planet vision, it wouldn't work for hypervelocity guns or anything that actually matters.

You could just give certain planets special ability's like they did in eaw

You mean avoid them even more than just auto-resolving land battles?  It should be possible, as Thuellai says, by editing the Planet xmls to remove ground structure slots and make the planets space only.  Don't forget that as well as mines (which arguably you could replace with some form of space economic structure) you would also lose ground to space weapons (ion cannon, hypervelocity gun) and the EotH would lose the Nirauan Fortress (which supplies their galactic spy/intelligence function).

Theoretically you could just remove the land slots from every planet.  A planet with only space slots is conquered if you win the space battle.

Of course, you wouldn't have any way to generate more income.

Cant tax what don't exist

As someone who loves playing Galactic Conquest, but hates playing land battles, how much of a pain in the ass would it be to disable the land combat? just wondering.
