You can be, if he has a knife and you shoot him, you get some nice time in jail.

You can only meet them with equal force, and sometimes even that is called into question.

No matter what you can not be charged with Capitol Punishment if you are defending yourself, maybe jail time, but not death. Take Dog the Bounty Hunter.

What? You people are not paying attention very well in school. The CONSTITUTION says you can NOT be charged if the self defense is justified. Meyer who cares if you live in Finland. Arbiter lives in Canada and hes going along with the discussion the way it was intended.

I pay attention in school, thank you very much.

I actually went and looked up interpretations of the law and a tad bit of its history when this argument came up and like I said before: you can meet someone with equal force legally, and even there it depends.

If their investigation concludes to you defending your own life you will not be charged.

There's different exceptions to homicide. If you kill according to the laws of war, you are excused. If you kill for any other reason, you are subject to investigation and judgment by some authority, even police.

well if you kill someone it is either man slaughter or murder, even if you try to save your own life.

You wont be charged. Take well..., this is a hard one ANYBODY IN THE MILITARY

You realize this defense you speak of would only switch who the victim was, not decrease the death rate?

What?  How does saving your own life make you a murderer?

I cant beleive how stupid you sound.

I was talking about death rate, not who the murderer was.
