I'm not sure, it has its low points and its high points, imo.

Yes, that is why she stopped writing any more Commandos novels.

Also because (as much I personally enjoyed the novels) there was too great an emphasis on 'OMG THE MANDOS AR3 T3H B35T!" side of things and the fact that she is a huge SW Minimalist. As much as I like the Mandalorians and the Commando novels, I am afraid that I can't accept some of her mistakes (such as there only being 3 million clones).

But that is neither here nor there, and I don't want to hijack this thread with a debate on Karen Traviss. Simply enough, due to her breaking with the Lucas folks and the discontinuation of her novels, the creators of TCWs probably either felt they should or were ordered to retcon the information regarding the Mandos. Sad as that may be.

I have quite a few problems with the series.

1) The dialogue is awful, even for GL. Ashley Eckstein is the worst of them all (Dee Bradley is the best).
2) They portray the Republic as the good guys, and they win way too much. Also, the stories are too self-contained, and there is no need for there to always be a moral at the end of every 30 minutes.
3) they completely ruined Ventress' story with the whole Nightsisters deal. I liked the original ending to her story where she feigns her own death and takes a ship away from the war.
4) Is it just me, or are they trying to destroy Karen Traviss's contributions to Star Wars? First was Mandalore, and that has been retconned into being a small part of the overall Mandalorian landscape (I can live with that). Next, they had Human-Twi'lek children, which I believe Traviss said couldn't happen. Then they do something awful: they rewrite the takeover of Mandalore from the New Mandalorians. Traviss had the takeover by a rogue clone named Alpha, with the help of his cunning lieutenant Fenn Shysa. When asked whether TCW would depict this, Filoni said: I really don't see the clones as having any connection to Mandalore, so probably not.

If we really don't like it, and the guys at Lucas Ranch can't get it all to fit inside of canon without putting a Star Destroyer-sized hole in the plot line, they could always claim that the series is meant to be a Clone Wars version of "Star Wars: Infinities."

Currently, TCW is actually a pretty good show and also, Leeland Chee has stated once The Clone Wars is completed, that he will start sorting out the discrepancies with canon. However, some of the stuff that TCW has done has gotten on my nerves.

For example, the Delta-7B Starfighter (why make a completely new starfighter when the Jedi already had Delta-7 Aethersprites and later Eta-2 Actis Interceptors?), Anakin fighting MagnaGuards in the show (In the ROTS novel, it was stated Anakin had only read about them in an Intel Report), freaking Mandalorians being turned into pacifists AND Mandalore being turned into a radioactive desert (Despite previous appearances depicting it much differently).

The retcon of the Mandalorians complete contradicted the history developed in the Karen Traviss novels, making her leave the series. I totally enjoyed her atmosphere of the Mandalorians, so I pretty much hate the show for doing that. But whatever GL says goes...

The show is...not that bad actually in my opinion.
The Mandalorians suddenly being a race of boring pacifists did seem off, and I just lost interest after the whole 'Darth Maul's Twin Brother' storyline, but everything else is pretty solid.
The film was god-awful though.

With canon retcons, Leland Chee said that the series only retcons certain things and events, so some books and things can still be canon, just rewritten a bit, but this is the same guy who made a Star Wars Disneyland Ride canon...

If you like watching the series, I would suggest looking at it as a separate interpretation of the Clone Wars and not as a direct reflection of the factual events of that era. There are some cool looking elements in this upcoming 5th season, and its fun to get a look at the clones interaction with each other and their short and violent lives, but I don't take it seriously.

even piell dies twice?, when?
They originally killed him off at the beginning of Coruscant Nights: Jedi Twilight (by Michael Reeves), which has now been superceded by the third series of the Clone Wars which shows him dying several years earlier.

It's very obvious that they were trying to create a kid's show, and the events they're creating aren't concerned with fitting into the existing canon, considering how Even Piell has now died twic (not strange for a SW character, but they usually have to come back to life first). I think they're under a contractual obligation to have every other episode on Naboo.
