Don't delete it, just copy the contents of the ICW Data folder and paste them in; that way it will overwrite the new stuff but leave everything else. And of course, make sure you keep a backup.

Thanks very much! :D

Well I've been trying Hamachii but we can't see each other in the lobby. We have had success with Vanilla using Gameranger, but I don't think you can use mods with that. Maybe it could be fooled (through some renaming) to open ICW instead?

Or what would be the "proper" way to replace the vanilla files with ICW files? Would it be to delete the Vanilla data folder, or are there things in there that the mod needs?

Thanks for the help, by the way :)

Tunngle is the one most often brought up here (since the basic version is free), and I even had it installed for a while to test with SOMEONE else (might have been Xizer), but we also had different versions at the time (Gold Pack vs. Steam) and were never able to see each other.

You have to use a VPN client, since Gamespy doesn't exist anymore.

Can I just ask, how do most people play multiplayer with ICW and also EaW in general?

I haven't played a MP game of anything EaW in like 3 years.

Actually, there is a way to fix the compatibility issue.  Steam users do not have to do anything, but for all Retail users, install the FoC Ram Patch, and it will fix the issue.  Though, it would seem that due to some unknown reasons that it will most likely not work unless you install the patch on a freshly installed copy of the game.  And, I have a friend that told me it would seem that mods break it, though he was using Republic at War, which installs patches to the game itself (apparently, that is what he told me, idk) but me and some other friends are in the process of trying out Imperial Civil War in mulitplayer - me and another are on Steam, the other is on Retail.  Will get back to you guys on whether or not Imperial Civil War breaks the compatibility.

You cannot directly use Steam Forces of Corruption to play with a retail copy, and there is no way to fix that while keeping your installation within Steam.

So in other words what you are saying is, don't use Steam FoC?

Does anyone know if there is a fix for the version mismatch between Steam FoC and retail FoC?

Have the STEAM User locate his CD key, most likely in his REGEDIT area or the STEAM menu. Then, have him install retail FoC via whatever means necessary and then tell this person to use their legitimate CD key.

Now that we have included more support for multiplayer mods (and hope to include more multiplayer GCs going forward), you can use this board to try to organize.

Please create one new topic per requested match. State the game mode you want to play (Galactic Conquest, Land Skirmish, Space Skirmish) and the number of people you're looking for (skirmish only, obviously).

I wouldn't suggest saying "I'll be on at x somebody get on and join me". It's probably more effective to post saying what you want to play, wait for somebody to respond and then try to organize it from there.
