Fleets move around sometimes, so the composition might be random depending on when you hit Bilbringi
Ah yes that could be it then.
I always assumed the fleet above Bilbringi was stationary considering they are cut off from rest of the imperial warlords/remnant in the core.

Hmm might be memory playing tricks on me.

My guess people are hyped about Byss because its surrounded by easily defended cluster of planets and well sort of isolated from rest of the galaxy.
other than that i dont see any advantage to it over Bilbringi which I consider far superior shipyard in terms of defense.

prepare for the worst or make a gigantic push towards the new republic, judging from the waiting I assume youll have Viscounts and massive fleet of Bothan Assault Cruisers knocking down your door.

Nah you were right. I don't think it shows the golans when you scout the planet with a drone but when you attack they are there. There is also three vindicators iirc.

Anyway, started anew today and right now it's going surprisingly well. Oddly though, the new republic took graven VII by week 5 so Obra Skai is my choke point up top. I lost it's space defense (it didn't really have one) early but they never attacked the ground or pushed further.

I lost Hakassi at around week 20 so I'm holed up at corulag. That's when things got weird. The new Republic has done practically nothing since week 20 ish. It is now week 80 and they haven't taken a single planet from anyone. They haven't even taken Tsoss beacon which I control and it doesn't even have a shipyard or any space forces. They've built some stuff since their military on the chart rises occasionally. There was a big jump once which could have been a viscount which they haven't used if it was.

The Empire of the Hand didn't do much for awhile either but now they are starting to take New Republic worlds like candy.

I've got three 40 pop fleets hanging around and a very strong ground force ready for when I start expanding.

So what in the world happened? Did I just get really lucky or what?

Also, a further note, what is so good about taking byss? Seems like more trouble than it's worth. I've already got Bilbringi and Byss isn't rich or anything so I don't really see the point of trying to take it...

I never got a chance to attack Bilbringi but I don't remember seeing any Golans. It was the two capitals and five frigates iirc. I'll likely play again today and will check.

What are Bilbringi's defenses like?
1 Imperial II-Class Star Destroyer
1 (Dominator) Interdictor Class Star Destroyer
2 Vindicators
2 Katana Dreadnaughts
2 Golan III Space Defense Novaguns

if i remember correctly

I think some golans, 1-2 ISD II and support ships, I think some carriers but definitely much easier than byss, Sovereign and Praetor plus ISD is complicated

Big hint are escort carriers and Carrack always worked for me in the beginning with a shortage of money.

heh, that really explains a lot, I was always really surprised at how they could get there without me noticing, what I try to do is delay the inevitable conflict with NR as much as possible, you get swarmed by bothan assault cruisers in an obscene way, in the start I tend to rely on tie defenders and carriers rather than a heavier ship.
Going south until hakassi and then work on getting to bilbringi, once you have it you can actually start fighting the NR :)

Just tried this today and was surprised at how difficult it is. I quickly expanded to Graven VII up top and Corulag down below and decided I would use them as choke points. Successfully defended an attack at Graven with no losses but then was slammed at Corulag by 15 bothan cruisers and some support ships that I didn't bother to count. My defense fleet had no chance even with a hypervelocity gun down below.

I'm currently saved right after that battle with their fleet in orbit. I've got nothing but a barracks and the gun down below so they will likely take the ground. After that I'm kinda screwed as every single building I have is a tax agency for the most part. Even with that I still only get 2485 per week which doesn't bode well. My fleet at Graven is worth about 15 population or so and that is my entire space military since Corulag's fleet was destroyed.

Not really sure what I could have done better. This is only week 23 and I'm already in big trouble. I was in the process of building up a fleet strong enough to take bilbringi. Their attack came much sooner than I anticipated.

I know Bilbringi is the short term goal, It would help with economy too adding a substantial 800 per day but I could use some advice on how to begin the conquest.

As for Noquivzor, I haven't seen any magic jumps, but the New Republic does start with it. Blitzing them asap is important. I don't know what you mean by "not conquered by me". It's never neutral.

thanks guys :), on a different topic has anybody noticed the "magic" jumps the AI makes sometimes? like for example the planet just before Bilbringi, Nvoz something like that, its a one way road to bilbringi but sometimes when its not conquered by me NR forces appear and take it, maybe in vanilla there was a route that is now hidden in mod?

>Don?t Underestimate the power of "oudated" ship designs Victory Star Destroyer?s,Dreadnaught Heavy Cruisers and Vindicator Heavy Cruisers combined with wings of Tie Defenders,Escort Carriers and couple of Strike Cruisers/Carracks will serve you for a long time if managed/used to their full extend properly

>When you capture your first capital shipyards, consider Imperial Star Destroyers a luxury, not the backbone of your fleet

>you can secure Champala and Borleais right off from the begining, with just E-Web/Stormtrooper squad from Carida due to planet having abandoned Light Factory in the attackers favor

>Consider holding onto building Light Factory if you are heading in direction of Gravan VII,capturing this planet will provide free Light Factory

>Reaching Bilbringi should be your top priority right from the begining off the game

>Corulag?s civilians support the empire, use that your advantage either in defensive or offensive they will prove invaluable due to the terrain being fairly plain

>Byss has one Sovereign class SSD in orbit approach with caution

>Dathomir has one Executor-Class SSD in orbit approach with caution

Go south young Imp haven't you been told Bolbringi's full of shipyards, minerals tenfold.

After you seize Bilbringi push south until you get to Byss. Then you can truly begin your conquest. After that I'd suggest taking over whatever's left on the northern half of the map, then make a push for Fondor and then crush whatever's left.
