I am sooo guilty of jumping behind the ship yards and avoiding the Golans. Ends a battle faster. Send in a fleet to distract and draw ‘em to you, then jump in a few ships to take out the shipyard.

Me too, I almost always do that :P Could be avoided by increasing the in-hyperspaceable radius around the shipyard ^^

I like that the FoW disappears, because it really makes no sense in empty space. I guess the only real downside to having it disappear is the ability to have ships drop in behind space stations, bypassing the fixed defenses.

I wouldn't say "Where ever", you still need to keep as many ships in your fleet alive as possible. That way the AI won't totally destroy you if they Hyperspace in their Reinforcements behind you. But still the instant "sensor scan" is helpful when going up against massive fleets or against an SSD with a Big Support Fleet!

I agree. Id rather know whats coming so i can decide what to bring in rather then guess and potentially how no way to fix the weakness

Well, it's better than having to find a Sensor Node in Space Battles (done in EAW and FOC). Personally, I like that we get to see what's on the battlefield before we hyperspace in our Reinforcement ships. That way, we get to pick and choose the ships best suited for the battle.

It's the result of an AI evaluator that gets a bit screwy, not really an intentional thing in and of itself.

I think that it's just  an intentional way to make sure the battles take place in the clear.

Been curious for a while now. Why is it that in space battles, after 30 seconds or so, the fog of war disappears?
