Aftermath is one of those books that would have been better as a radio show, not a book. It just sucks.

Tarkin was good and shows a lot of how Tarkin become what he was. It's solid.

Lords of the Sith was decent and showed how the relationship between Vader and the Emperor was still forming and molding.

All three suffered from minimalization -- reducing an entire galaxy to the level of making it seem like everything was only happening within a single star system. I continue to abhor the fact that writers ignore the scope and size of the sandbox in which they find themselves.

Begging for his life?
It would fit into the Idea "In the end all Sith are cowards"
But I can't imagine Dooku begging.

I don't think every Sith in the Galaxy is cowardly. Darth Vader and, before his character was soiled by TCW, Darth Maul were two with who didn't cower in the face of death. Vader had a sense of honor, despite being mostly evil.

That aside,  I loved the book Boba Fett when I was younger. I first read it out of sheer curiosity, but I loved the style of the book enough that it was among few books I've ever read that I completed in a matter of days. I would like to get and read the sequels one day.

I agree here, except where he has Dooku beg for his life. That seemed really out of character. Christopher Lee thought so too in the movie script so they removed that aspect thankfully.

The prequel books certainly all improve on the movies to a degree, though none I think as much as Revenge of the Sith as written by Matthew Stover.  The movie was okay - the book is phenomenal.

Tarkin was one I was going read for sure. I did read the books up to 6 for the movies and I will say this the episode one book is a lot better then the movie is it self. I know where but is. Episode two love story for 3rds of it.

Out of the new canon I've read twilight company was by far the best. Its a side of star wars they never really covered. The ordinary infantry grunts on both sides. Its basically band of brothers set in star wars and it is a really good read. Amusing to see the reaction of normal soldiers to fighting a galactic war and it also gives a good scene featuring their reaction to fighting a enemy that uses the force when none of them have ever heard of it

I did buy Lords of the Sith the other day in finished it in 2 days.
It was mediocre...
I believe someone described it once with:
"And Vader is always like: "How did the Emperor know that, or this, how did he do that or this?""
It wasn't as bad as expected but that did fit the bill...
Plus i thought the Story ended a little short.
It wasn't bad, but it wasn't really good either.

So I went into the local bookstore yesterday and they had a couple of the new novels in stock but what actually caught my attention was the first volumes of the new comic series (Star Wars, Vader and Shattered Empire).  I never got into comics in the old Expanded Universe (or in any other universe for that matter) but over the last year or two I've been enjoying IDW's Star Trek tie-in comics with JJ's new movies, which made me thing why not give these new SW ones a go too?

I've not read them yet, but if they're fun I'll probably continue down this path as well as picking up the new novels (I've always planned on reading the latter at some stage). :)

I was given an iPad years back as a gift, and learned to appreciate digital books with it.  Don't know I could do it on a phone, but a tablet does a decent enough job mimicking the experience of having a book in your hands.

None of the new fanfiction has impressed me. I was given the three new titles for xmas. I've not been able to get drawn into them. Maybe it's because I'm used to reading books like X Wing, Darth Bane and Plageus that the new style just seems void
