I once jumped Thrawn alone to a point by mistake, illor was there and powered on those gravity gens. Then 5 raid fleet star destroyers dropped right on top of me...it was a bad day to be thrawn

On the plus side, they're not always bad.  I make heavy use of the 'flagship' function (that little blue box in fleet organization) for just this purpose - if my flagship detects a Raid Fleet coming in (it'll say something like 'Detecting unidentified ships in hyperspace') I can pull to the side and arrange for my enemy to be hit from two sides.  Raid Fleets are hostile to EVERYONE, so they can be a big asset if they jump in during your defense (They bought me time to save Hakassi once with my HVG in Reunification) or if you can arrange for them to tangle with the defenders on an attack.

It's not really a non-faction, it's based on the existing factions, and the assumption that the galaxy isn't just made up of the 50 planets within a GC.

I appreciate the logic though it would seem to make more sense in a perfect world if they raided my undefended cash cow planets at the rear of my respective empire rather than hyperspacing into an enormous cluster of ISD IIs - however I imagine there are more than a few limitations with the EaW engine in this respect.

Either way it hasn't effected my enjoyment of this excellent mod!

Many thanks for your quick reply - hopefully I can learn to live with it - it seems a bit strange to me that a non-faction somewhere is commonly mustering two of the largest and most advanced ships of the era and throwing them into my lines.

Raid fleet.  It's a random chance of it happening in any space battle in Thrawns Revenge.

Greetings!

I have been much enjoying the Thrawn's Revenge mod - truly excellent work and congratulations to all those involved in something so complete.

However, I'm not sure if some piece of storyline has eluded me, but a google and forum search doesn't seem to answer my question either.  As the topic states, when I bring a large fleet into action (while playing Thrawn's Campaign as Imperial Remnant), two red-edged ISD II's will hyperspace in and attack my fleet.  They are not completely red like the Crimson variant, they just have a red paint outline.  They are dealt with easily enough due to being massively outnumbered, but I'm so confused as to what is happening and more to the point, why?  Any ideas on how to stop this would also be appreciated.

Please could someone explain as I'm sure this is expected behaviour.  Many thanks.
