I doubt there will be any other force captable of facing the mighty galactic empire in a direct combat. They are just way too cool and strong to be stopped

Clone Wars don't count. The Republic and CIS were both being run by the same guy who was trying to make the war last longer. So any results are skewed.

Don't Battlestars still have problems getting hit by nukes? And their fleet is not that large, even with the Cylons. Even if it was I do not think the Cylons would like Ion cannons.

Yeah, the whole droid problem.  When has that happened before in the SW universe?  Hmm...

I agree.  It's a clever faction with power, strategy, evil plots, and a fleet.  Most antagonists in the Trek universe were single lone wolfs that had an ace up their sleeve (not unlike some badly done Star Wars villains for that matter).
Quite a few SW villains fell into that role, Brakiss, Kueller, Hethrir, Moff Getelles, Froga Brill, to a degree Xizor,(practically ALL the CW villains)
Yes, of course there was....KHHHHHHHAAAAAANNNNNN!!!!!

Oh hey neat I'm a Moff now. Moff Xizer...neat.

Best Star Trek Villains were the Dominion from DS9. He rest are sloppily done, but DS9 is really good.

Never liked any of the Star Trek villains, seemed too improbable and often struck me as only annoyances like the squabbling between systems after the Empire fell. I kind of wish the Empire WOULD have entered the Star Trek universe...and purged it.

Yeah a good case for the empire is that they ruled the galaxy were expanding with minimal resistance and have the biggest ships in pretty much all of sci-fi excluding borg ships, ridiculously Overpowered super weapons and sith lords.

Well...if it were given time to build the Flood could be problematic, also the Forerunners, since they basically built weapons that could annihilate ALL life in a galaxy. Other than that I can't really think of any other SciFi forces that could take the Empire apart.

I believe everyone here is a rational human being and believes that the Galactic Empire would wipe the floor with the entire Star Trek galaxy (minus the Q because they would likely be the cause of the war), the Halo-verse, and the Warhammer 40k universe.  But I was wondering if there is any sci-fi power that could take our Glorious Empire on in a straight fight? It is my opinion that it would not be possible unless you allow omnipotent characters for the opposition, like Warhammer's Emperor or the Q magically fighting for the Federation. One more thing time traveling based universes are outlawed unless they are using time travel appropriately. By this I mean zipping back and forth through different time periods trading tech until the faction is able to take over their entire universe and start branching out into other time streams.
