Woah, I just fixed it. This is really odd!

So I put the files into the Data folder and well when I activated the ICW mod, it showed up the vanilla Forces of Corruption mod.

However, the only other thing I changed was that, in the properties of the ICW mod launcher, either the Start in or Target bar had LucasArts as Lucasarts. So I changed it to a capital 'A' instead of lower case. Then I moved the ICW folders back to the mod folder and it worked!

So it seems that the case sensitivity may have been the problem. Cause that's the only thing I changed and it worked.

I will give the mod launcher a try. As for the 2nd suggestion, do you mean install the mod data or the whole mod into the data folder?

I'm looking into some stuff, but it seems to be a problem with how the game is being directed to load stuff, which is probably a problem with system settings in your computer somewhere.

I can think of two ways to get around it that may or may not work, though it wouldn't address your root issue:

1. Use the Mod Launcher program
http://www.moddb.com/games/star-wars-empire-at-war/downloads/empire-at-warforces-of-corruption-mod-launcher
(I think this is the one, I've never personally used it but a lot of people have)

2. Install mods directly to your data folder.
This is a bit more annoying if you want to switch between different mods or between a mod and the base game, but I'm pretty confident it would work.

So I am guessing this is a problem that has no sort of solution to fixing this?

I have the retail version. The mod is ran by a batch file, though the vanilla isn't.

Do you have the Steam version or retail, and if retail are you using a batch file to launch it or something else?

I will try Star Wars - Clone Wars Modification, another mod that I know worked for me. See if it gives the same errors or not.

Alright I tried that mod out and I got the same problem with the Direct3D Drive.

I will also note that I did do a fresh installation of my Gold Pack for this game last night.

Can you check if another mod works?

Well just restored the settings of my graphics driver. And checking the mod now.

And...still getting the same error.  Kind of not understanding why the mod doesn't work anymore for me, but I am not getting any of these problems with the vanilla game.

This computer is much stronger than my last one which could not even handle games like Crusader Kings 2 nor Guildwars 2.

My old comp which had a Turion II Dual Core would work this mod fine without any problems.  Now that I have a laptop with a NVIDIA graphics card, the mod doesn't work.

I tried the games just before I posted my response and the vanillas worked fine. I did a little of skirmish and nothing was wrong.  Worked perfectly fine with the mod still present in the FoC files.  As for the mod, still doesn't work. I am gonna go and check my NVIDIA settings though.

Make sure your drivers are updated, or if you have a newer version of windows make sure your compatability settings are correct.

Also, do you mean you tried them and they worked a while ago, or you've tried them and they worked after you started with the mod? The mod doesn't and really can't change any Direct3D stuff, that's typically inherent to the game itself. Otherwise, check your graphics card settings since sometimes, especially with more visually demanding mods, the game doesn't like it when you have an integrated chip being used.

Empire at War and Forces of Corruption vanilla both work.

For EaW I have v1.5
For FoC I have v1.01

I never experienced this problem with this mod on my old laptop, but for some reason I do on this new one.

Yeah, seems like I remember having to patch the BASE game because I was getting this error all the time even with vanilla.

Does Empire at War itself work?
